I thank both Malone and Storebror for being honest and clear things out.
I'm the one to blame, please accept my excuses for not deliviring the log in time and not
having read the Log-lst Sticky Thread.
I had again issues with my browser, simply see my Post log, when I should have helped or answered you Admins, not only in this Topic. I was working on multiple Fixes for issues Members pointed me on stuff I released,
finally Today managed to cure everything and come back, read someone quoted me twice.
This doesn't happen often, if I make a mistake I correct it in time, though it was 5 minutes to set everything needed up.
I understand the importance of stickies, I managed to get working Logfiles now.

I'm up to get improved too, being an elder and not knowing how to make a log.
It's quite a shame, there I have nothing to reply, that's lousy indeed.
At least I accept everything that was said and hope we'll overcome any trouble that might occure

Knoch, neither my nor Storebror's posts have been aimed at any one individual, rather it is generalised comments of something we are experiencing more and more each day, and i think we all pretty much approached breaking point at the same time.
we simply wish for members to do the required reading of posting guidelines (yes, we understand this may be quite a lot by now, and quite time-consuming, but there is no alternative - we simply don't have the time to be repeating this info each day. as it is, the constant battle of asking members to provide us with basic inputs is enough to tire us out to the point that we cannot get anything else done - such as actual modding, for instance)
anyway, i think enough has been said on the subject - let's all try and move on with a spirit of co-operation, rather than conflict.

That's exactly what is needed to fix the remaining issues with 4.10, the log clearly tells where the error is:

at com.maddox.il2.objects.air.CockpitIL_2_1940.reflectWorldToInstruments(CockpitIL_2_1940.java:176)

@Radge: Without having looked at the code, I bet my mother's ass that this is the famous "printCompassHeading" cross-version compatibility issue again.
You might want to take a look at the SAS Common Utils: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,40490.0.html
Besides other cross-version compatibility improvements, it provides a special method "setPrintCompassHeading" which works across all game versions.
Using the SAS Common Utils you can easily modify your mod to work on all base game versions with one single codebase. Query me if you've got issues with it.

About the cockpit error in the 4.10...
I took a look to the .java file and in the 176 line I see:

 ???

So, I think your guess is wrong...
But I will try to take a look on the SAS Common Utils.

Yes, that guess was wrong, but still this error can be solved by using the SAS Common Utils.
The reason of the error is that "getGearL()" is not available prior to IL-2 4.12.
To solve this, you can use the SAS Common Utils method is412orLater() to see whether the currently running game is IL-2 4.12 or later.
If this is true, you can use getGearL(), getGearR() and getGearC(), otherwise always use getGear() instead.

Actually no Mod is needed to turn the log on,there is one available and was made for a very easy way "for some" to turn it on...
but again a Mod is not needed at all and in fact the Stock default game can have the log turned on!

Don't like log.lst then edit it to log.txt to be read with notepad or whatever
this is all simple and been around since the Demo of IL-2  !

and yes,a Log is needed for help from Any Developer/or modder in any game!


I don't even know how to get that log.lst. I gave it a try but nothing showed up after restarting the game.
Later on I found out that there is a mod to get that log.lst to show up.


In the Config>
Code: [Select]
[Console]

The console is where you can type commands to the game.
In the default key setting you press shift +tab to show console

The most common use is fps START SHOW to display FPS

In the console you can change most of the config parameters while in the game.

HISTORY=1024
Number of lines permitted in console

HISTORYCMD=1024

LOAD=console.cmd

SAVE=console.cmd

LOG=0
Here logs are disabled but you can save them by setting to 1 if you wish the console will then be saved to a text file for you to view later.

LOGTIME=0

LOGFILE=log.lst
This can be changed to log.txt

LOGKEEP=0


The log is and has been asked for ,so many times it is no wonder those that actually do all the helping get frustrated when asking a simple question then get spat on for it!

There is no such thing like stupid questions.
The critical code starting at line 176 is this:

The problem with this code is that the methods "getGearR()", "getGearL()" and "getGearC()" to get the specific gear position of distinctive legs has been implemented with IL-2 4.12, previous versions don't distinguish between the legs and only "getGear()" method exists.
You can circumvent this using the SAS Common Utils by performing these steps:
