Are there any scenery mod?
Also do I need Ultra Pack?

I have a 410.1m DBW game version as well. This one, in order to work needed UP3RC4.
I transfered maps files in sfs format from both DBW and UP to SFS_AUTO of 412,2m / SAS modact v5.3.
Also text sfs files (textures from UP mounted first and from DBW mounted second ).
Then also istalled sfs objects files from DBW and UP.

After all sfs are auto mounted, all the info is in game, but nothing is "initiated". Textures are available right away. Maps
need their lines added to all.ini. Then comes the tricky part: a map does not save if the objects on it are not present
in static.ini. I have figure out most lines needed to be added on top 412 in static.ini BOTH for DBW objects plus UP objects, but not UP objects alone... I use universal_static.ini_checkerV1.3.exe to debug maps missing objects.
My goal was to have CANNON channel maps working, and they do. ( .. that was before TFM came out.. )
I activate and check maps as I need them, and do not bother otherwise... Added one object lines to static.ini recently.
Apparently I had missed that one object.

All that to say that UP files are a good thing to have. They are even required in TFM, but TFM does not use DBW files as TFM is  meant to be placed  "on top of a future DBW412". Cannon maps are in the UP files and use only the UP objects. TFM has these.

Note: using these UP files does not mean installing UP; planes or cockpits vehicles ships and such I don't care... and wont work out of 410m environment...

I got to say, IL-2 with all these mods are EXTREMELY complicated to gather all the information to install.  Installation is also very confusing.

I have previously followed links to download 408m, 409m....4.12.2m and run each and every one of these to achieve a "clean" install of 4.12.2m.  But then I could not change the resolution to my screen native which is 1680x1050x32.

Just now, I have downloaded the 4.12.2 Mega Patch and I managed to installed it successfully and the resolution can be changed without bailing out!!!

So let me get you right: DBW is another game or 4.12.2m is another game or DBW is a mod which requires 4.12.2m?
UP3RC4 stands for Ultra Pack 3 is that right?  And RC4 is what?  Also, is Ultra Pack 3 a separate game again just like DBW and 4.12.2m?  Where I can download UP3, is it not within SAS scope of work?

But a version of DBW is being tested and debugged as we speak that soon or later to come out, for 412.2m.

It is not available yet, so like every 412.2m user, you have to wait; some people use TFM in the meantime.

So you have come back where you started: keep the clean copy of working 412.2m preciously; you will always need it in the future; you can make several versions of your game, all working with it now or in the future.

1- from clean 412.2m, you can redo a SAS modact v5.3 and mods that you already did before.
2- from clean 412.2m you can have a HSFX7 install.
3- from clean 412.2m you can install the huge TFM install.
4- from clean 412.2m you will be in the future able to install DBW 412, but not available now.

5- you cannot retro back to 410m; 410.1m; 410.1m + UP3rc4 ; 410.1m +UP+ DBW. That needs the clean 410m to start with...

Old mod F-4 wont work in 412; you must have latest version F4 for 412 for certain; I've not install it ; should works however.

You jump too easy from one situation to another without stating properly what your status is.

I have got the Jet Era 1.33 installed with hot fix 1.3 and the bomb hotfix also.

When I jumped into the MiG-17, I could not get the flares work, what should I do?

Also how do I lock enemy with my missile and fire?

Can I now install the MiG-21?

No. Your doing OK. Congrats.
Engine mod gives new keys to program/assign in your CONTROLS section. Also more power-full catapults on carriers for jets are now available. Try FJ3M Fury. Try sidewinder missiles; you will love these ! They will tell you when to fire them with a going higher pitch buzzing sound !

I am not quite sure my Jet Era is completed actually Hubberranz, according to the instructions:

Installation for 4.12.2m ONLY:
1) Make sure you are running ModAct 5.3 on Il-2 4.12.2m
2) Make sure you meet the game requirements listed above
3) Extract content to your Il-2 directory
4) Then please copy the SFS archives from SAS_SFS to SFS_AUTO folder. By doing this, there is no need to touch the RC file
5) Add the latest Hotfix (if any)
6) Add the aircraft lines below NB: If you are new to modding, please read the following guides:

I get stuck at adding the aircrafts lines.  I can't find the plane_ru and weapons_ru files.  Also when adding lines to the Air.INI, I don't get the years of the aircraft in-game.  Where is the plane_ru and weapons_ru files?


You do not need to add any lines in the RC file, for the rest the previous replies seem spot on.

Yes, a lot to read, but ALL the questions you asked are answered on this forum already...a bit much, but all there. ;) :D

If you want to have new maps for a ModAct 5.3, I advise you to install Dark Blue World 1.7 as well, the one in all pack available in the DBW sections. All you need is a clean copy of IL-2 1946, the rest can be downloaded.

For maps in 4.12, the ModAct version, you need to check the MapMods section of this forum, there is a sticky thread for 4.12 with tips on pages 1 and 5, usually my recommendation is read SAS~Boomers reply No 10 and my reply at page 5.

For the 3rd Generation Mig-21s, you need the 2nd Generation Mig-21s installed FIRST.

The rest is only latest Engine Mod 2.7, jet Era Mod with hotfix and done.

For the 3rd Generation Mig-21s, you need the 2nd Generation Mig-21s installed FIRST.I have no keys for firing the missiles, launching flares, teh readme file doesn't come with that???  What is 2nd Generation and 3rd Generation MiG, I don't understand what these genartions are,can you please explain. I have very little time each day after work, so I need very prcise and concise information

The rest is only latest Engine Mod 2.7, jet Era Mod with hotfix and done.

Can I now install the MiG-21?
    - flare keys should work with aircraft that are equipped with flares and use those keys in their programming.
    - Mig-17 has K-5 (flare ) and R-55 ( flare ) ; not the same thing; just missiles; shoots as Rockets and you can
      engage or disengage manually by pressing the B key, the key normally assigned to ground brakes; if you
      have not change it.

    - many have experienced that not having L-159G mod, have been of a problem in the past ( weapons issues ):

Thanks Hubberranz, for your patience.

That is the MiG-21 I have downloaded and it works in my

ModAct 5.3 + Jet Era 1.33.

Can you give me some further pointer to some modded maps, good looking maps.  I believe I am using the stock maps and graphics is outdated.

But when I opened up the FMB and adding an aircraft wanted to save the mission, it saves but when I click play the game won't start but just stay in the FMB

What am I misssing?  OH!!! This game is so difficult to mod and play!!!!!!!!!!! >:(
