I think it's purely 3d as the prop moves from the regular model to the prop disk model I have noticed a similar effect in a few stock planes and is most likely attributed to a small difference in the spinner for what ever reason.

Ranwers while you are looking at it, you may as well change propellor.mat to have an AlphaTestVal of 0.1

As it is I get this.





Making that one change I get ...





This bird is actually making me want to write a flight model in my mod tool so I can just jump in and fly it.  ;D
