P-38 F/G/J vs Japan
« on: March 01, 2014, 11:55:38 AM »

Fellow Pilots:
This is my first ever file.  Take it easy on me if I mess it up.  It's time I shared something.  So here it is.
Since I have been flapping my gums about the P-38 so much, here are 3 Quick Missions for QMP.
You must have P-38F1/G-15/J-15.  I made these using DBW and New TFM but they should work for just about anyone.
Hope you have as much fun learning to fly this beast as I did.
TIP, use some maneuvering flaps.
Here you go

Maico:

How do you access your missions? They have a .quick file extension whereas all the other files within folders within the "Missions" folder have the .mis extension. There are two files named ".last.quick" and "First.quick that are in a folder marked "Quicks" in the root folder - not in the "Missions" folder.

Can you help?

Hi Bob:
Put the missions in your Quicks folder and then load from the QMB "load" option, you find them there. ;)
That's the same as safing a setup for a Quick mission and later re-loading it.

Got it! Tried it. Yes, it's a bit a sphincter cruncher!

I can see why your flights take such a beating - Veterans vs Average pretty much equals annihilation.

Things to try:
Reduce the fuel load to 50 or 60 percent to lighten your plane - you're not flying very far.
Get your flight to "Rejoin" and your second flight to "Cover" you - this keeps the bad guys all nicely bunched up for the next phase. Gain altitude for the first few seconds then, when pushing over tell your flights to attack the fighters. Line up on the incoming, blow through them firing as they pass then stretching the distance between you and them until you gain your altitude back.

The Lightening has a lot of fire power all nicely lined up right in front of you so don't have to worry about convergence.

Nice little mission and a combination I haven't tried before this.

Nice of you to try and I appreciate your comments and suggestions.  I fly it almost as you just pointed out.  My best was five kills.  In the mission I describe above, I was alone vs 4 then vs 3.  It was excellent.  Thanks also for pushing me to make my first ever upload.  It will not be my last.
