I will be looking forward to that Berlin mission. Looks great! You might want to add some of my
upcoming new crater texture objects to that city landscape. I will post them soon, I must do some more testing.
I want them to be looking good.

I always thought it was Hannah Reich and some other General idiot who landed their Fieseler Storch
in that street so they could pay their last respects and say "hi" to Hitler hiding in his Berlin bunker nearby.
Never heard about this scene with a Junkers. Sounds exciting... suicidal too  ;D

I am still working out some retexturing to the old Stalingrad map for more realism and your Junkers skins will be
great for some of those last minute landing missions for getting away from the Red Army in the last
days of the Siege of Stalingrad.

Thanks once again for a great pack of skins.
I have also painted a few skins for this classic aircraft many years ago.

@Max

sorry you were posting the very same moment as i deleted the post - because i wanted the screenies to show up in original size - because of the details.
So here it is again.
Many thanks to everyone who gave a feedback. This is most encouraging.

A very good opportunity to in turn say a big thanks to all you modders! The work on planes, maps, objects is fantastic.

The following screenshots are made especially for  one of my forthcoming skinpacks, right from the Downfall of the III.Reich:

BTW the scene isn't complete fantasy - during the last of the berlin battle aircraft of II./TG3 landed on a hastily prepared
landing strip, the street in the tiergarten  between the brandenburg gate and the victory memorial.
Some pilots failed when i. e. touching trees but one is recorded to land and take off successfully in all that chaos.

Thanks to all modders. Don't ask how long it took to place all these objects...

@max

The II./TG3 was eventually tasked with carrying a 'Führerschutzbataillon' , in fact 30 men chosen from SS and Kriegsmarine troops, to the Reichskanzlei - for exclusive protection of Hitler himself. It isn't really known if these men ever reached the Reichskanzlei. As Berlin-Gatow airfield was lost to the Russians a provisional landing strip was hastily prepared on the so called 'East-West axe', a part of the Charlottenburger Straße running trough the Tiergarten between Brandenburger Gate and the Victory column.
There even were landing lights and the trees along the strip were felled for widening the landing strip.
Hanna Reitsch landed on the 26th april as one of the first with a Fi156 to visit her Führer in the Reichskanzlei. She managed to take off two days later in an Ar96.
For larger airplanes it of course was much more difficult to land between the tall trees, under heavy smoke, fires, enemy fire and by night. Incoming by flying over the Brandenburger Gate with no chance to make a touch and go landing if necessary - because of the Victory column and large tiergarten trees at the end of the strip.
However in the night of 26th april Uffz. Ernst Martin of 7./TG3 with his Ju52 coded 4V+GR was the first to land there and failed by hitting some trees and crashed.
In the following night Ofw Gerhard Böhm of II./TG3 managed to take down and take off with his Ju52 successfully. He most likely was the only one, others aborted landing under these conditions and returned to base.
The II./TG3 was ordered then to fly by day as night missions to the landing strip were considered impossible. The commander of II./TG3 protested vehemently argueing the aircraft would be excellent targets for the russian flak and the missions considered suicidable. The only reason for aborting the mission was developing thick fog in the Tiergarten area.
II./TG3 flew night missions to the east-west axe by dropping medical materials and equipment until 30th april 1945, then the unit was pulled back before Berlin fell completely to the Red Army.

You can actually see approx where the landing strip was in Berlin, as the special street lights (designed by Hitler and Speer in unison) were taken down. After the war modern street lights were set up and now illuminate this length of street.

Terrific skins!
