...
you're going to need to tweak the 'Polar bear' and create a new object, 'Panda bear' :D

You are too late, I already painted a Panda Bear and also a Black bear type for my game
a few months ago.  ;D I will post them for everyone in one of my next static-objects packages.
I haven´t released it yet, because I am still painting a dog.

OK... I'm done with the trees, I've changed the initial ones, worked all day and I'm so tired!!, to be honest I'm not capable of squeeze more lush or accuracy from IL2 autopop trees given the constraints. I've done a delicate balance with the colors so they blend well when together with the other layered forests. Bear in mind that, although non perfect, these are autopop trees so their maintenance is minimal so you don't have to put them one per one. It's amazing still what you can do with an graphics engine which is already 13 years old.

You can see 4 types here:

I found a nice use to the spruce tree for the Pacific: Bamboo trees!! :D Not perfect but hey

Better picture of the bamboo. It would be nice if someone discovers how to make thickets many spruce/bamboo trees. Bamboo doesn't grow alone. Also, it would be awesome of course if someone discovers where are the blessed definitions of the shape of the trees so you can control them! :)

WOW!  8) That looks amazing. I would have never though of doing a Bamboo tree
out of a spruce tree. That looks mighty nice. Congrats! I like it very much.
I have no idea how to put 25 of these things all together. It must be done when you
create the 3d model I guess.
I also like those other big leaf trees. I never seen that type before. Looks great!

Thanks!! :) It was one of those Eureka moments, wondering what to do with that spruce...

There's a way to control how many and what trees appear in autopopup. I just haven't researched on that but there are tutorials etc, just too lazy and focused on the textures. But in the map, in Saigon there's a park (see some screenshots in this thread). OK, I don't know how they did it but there's a concentration of autopop trees there, looking like a nice park, and most interestingly, from all 4 types I've created for the map (bamboo, big leafy and the two medium leafies) only the big leafy and one of the medium leafies appear, whereas in other areas of the map in the countryside all four types appear mostly randomly.

Have to say this repaint of yours looks truly outstanding, welcome home, where have you been like forever. 8)

I honestly thought you had abandoned this project as it seems so long ago now that you mentioned you wanted to do it. ;)

The trees look superb, but those in the park I am sure were tree objects not auto pop.  The area is where in colonial times there was a governors residence and to have trees there meant I needed to use objects so I could place things within a certain enclosed area.

Maybe age and the alchohol has garbled my memory though and I'm thinking of something else. :D

Max you're work is always outstanding, don't know how you find the time for all the things you do.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

I know what you mean. I concentrate more on texturing model skins and painting aircraft skins than
concentrate on changing the actual models. To me , they look great as they are. The 3D-model artists already
have done a cool job on them. If I want some changes to them, I repaint them. Some can always be
created to look like something else just by using a few paintbrush strokes and added details.

As for the more complicated stuff, I suggest to contact some of the guys here I most admire and have much more
experience in doing these things to IL-2 maps, like Agracier or UP~Boomer , for example.
They know some very cool stuff and always have great ideas. I have learned much from them.
They are Masters at their craft, but you are also a very great artist and anyone can tell that just by looking at
all the other maps you have already retextured and created in the past. They are superb!
I am sure you will figure out a good way to make those changes you need to see.
If not, do like me, and push all the buttons at the same time! Something is bound to happen!   ;D
Perhaps it´s better not to do that. You might push the "Bail-out" button and suddenly your jumping out of
the airplane over enemy territory ! AAAAHAAHAHAH  :D

Hehe many thanks Pete! Well I abandoned modding because my life became really busy. In fact now I'm in a break and staying home a bit because an operation so I returned :P

Yes, Vietnam was always on my agenda. Some months ago I got stuck with rice fields trying to do them ultrarealistic (which is pretty difficult) but now I didn't fall in the trap, just used some old textures and revamped the whole with tricks learned repainting Hawaii mainly :)

Saigon's park is autopop for sure: they look with my textures, and I have only repainted the autopop trees and not any other objects :)

Yea Max I'm on the repainting side. I'm more lazy than most of map modders because I don't move objects around etc. I guess I prefer the scenario to get set up and then arrive and try to make the most of it with textures. That's why I love ideas like the autopop trees, because they require a careful texture but then everything is automatic.

I admire immensely all you guys, this community work has made something that is unique in the entire world, that a game 13 years old already looks still outstanding, and not only that, but actually it has cannibalized its successor (CoD) in such enormous way. There's no lack of talent here (or tutorials) there's just laziness on my side (or lack of time  :( )

Well enough chat, going to sleep if I can (quite hot in here). Just posting a screenshot from a nice mission by Cracken I just played, with the new trees, low level attacks make really a difference in immersion (I hated the un-related European trees of before)
