Note that this Mig-21 mod version ( second gen ) came out v1 without radar.

Then third gen mod was made with radar.  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37264.0.html

Then Mig-21 V1.1 updated is now radar equipped (developed on the SM-12 mod).

So a last resort would be to have the file from third gen in your game ( edit ini lines later). This may also provide some support...

Come to think of it, try V1.0 without the update and the hotfix first, to see if it works...
Unfortunately nothing works. It crashes when loading a mission at about 40+ percent.

? Error log. ? Mission loading 35%+  = loading aircraft.... ( 40 ? ! ). Again: all missions ? Does same mission work with another aircraft, would be good to know.  :(

The missions work(all of them) with other aircraft, but not with MiG-21's.

Installed the third gen MiG-21's and 19 as was suggested. Tried it without the air.ini lines and then with them(for MiG-21). Still crashes.

I know, I know what is your problem.

That's nothing bad of you.
The error caused by version compatibility problem caused by printCompassHeading.
v1.1's MiG-21 cockpit is written in 4.12.2m rules about printCompassHeading and not compatible to 4.10.1m.
From players' side, nothing to do to solve it.
It needs modders' side Java coding rework.

Today, SAS Common Utils gives us total compatibility solution of printCompassHeading.
And when the modder write the cockpit code with Common Utils rules , then the one MOD aircraft can be driven on each version 4.10.1m/4.11.1m/4.12.2m.
Now I'm not good at Common Utils rules and need more time to study to rework it by myself.
If S3 can rework it, it's best, I think , but S3 has other projects and ...... if he cannot , I'll try (maybe in 4 or 5 weeks).

Shvets , if you cannot wait so long time to drive MiG-21 , easy and quick is installing 4.12.2m + JetEra1956 + SAS Engine MOD 2.7 in another folder.
If you like , Pre-DBW2 is usable on 4.12.2m.

Thank you. It was driving me bananas(an IT student not having been able to install a mod :) ), because I thought I was doing something wrong.
I'll probably go with 4.12.2 for now and try the pre-DBW later on.

the second gen MiG's didn't have mounted guns - only first and third gen. Second generation used a gunpod - PFM and FL. PF was pure missile-type interceptor - it didn't actually need guns for it's purpose, so they were demounted, so it saved a lot of weight, thus it was lighter and therefore faster (in both vertical and horisontal speeds).

Since for now the Kh-66 is rather simplified (because the RP-21/22 is simplified), you just arm it (B key), reach 10 km from a target (not a ship! A car, tank or train, can be moving.), wait for aproval (tone as by K-5 missiles family and a light under the sight), aim your sight grid on the target, launch missile, wait for hit, break. If you break too early, missile will loose signal.

...IRL, the Kh-66 was beam riding missile - the same as K-5 beam riders. That means - if you have fixed beam (aiming forward or stabilised by gyroscope) you can attack a ground target with both K-5's and Kh-66. You just fixed the beam, turned the sight to the ground attack + missile, moved pipper on the target, stabilised the beam - gyroscope made it aim at one point - and launched the missile, it rides down the beam no matter what's on the end. Be it tank, bunker, ship or...

This has also a secondary use - if Kh-66 just rides the beam just like K-5... if you locked a plane and launched the Kh-66, you got kinda good heavy anti-bomber missile with near 100 kg of explosives (220 lb). Disadvantage was, that Kh-66 needs direct impact...

....thank you,i try the Kh-66 on a ship!!!I know Kh-66's history, basically was an AA missile adapted as AG, and "beam riding" means that you must point the target until the missile reach it.....

basically, IRL you didn't have to point your nose to the target all the way - if you stabilised it using gyroscope... but even so you shouldn't do any drasticall movements :D
