imo that gunpod should be on default loadout, cause its not included in all loadouts and its better in close combat than missiles.

The first MiG-21s were for close range combat - this second generation were clear interceptors and were not though to fight in close combat.

So am i the only one who sucks with the MiG-21s gun?
I dont know with a mig 17 i can take out anything you want but with the Fishbed... Its damn fast it turns well i can get into position okay but when it comes to aiming and shooting.. Those bullets are so fast plus the whole aircraft is so sensitive i simply cant hit anything with the guns.. :/
I've been trying for months and i managed to demage a Supersabre once but with unlimited ammo...
The third gen Fishbeds gyro gun sight is making it even worse for me

Guns are not the primary option, I just use them like this:
- get in range for IR missiles and fire them.
- if the missile does not hit, at the pass I try to hit with canon.

F-4 makes perfect target.

yes, because fast moving of mig, many bullets doesnt hit but just take yourself enough time and distance -> youll urn out from skies anything with that.
using of it just require a lot of practice and flying hours with that

thats true too, soviet missile locker is very accurate (if comparing to many US planes in il2, its more like 60/40 that it hits or goes near miss)

Yeah it is very hard, i have taken down a Phantom with them once, I find best thing to do is only use them against targets that aren't manouvering too much, get behind their blind spot, pull airbrakes if going to fast and with careful joystick movements line it up and shot. Also if your moving a lot don't use Gyro sight, used caged I find it easier to aim with when I am a manouvering dogfight.

Same here. I got plenty of close in, high-G turning canon kills vs. my brothers who mostly prefer the F-100 or F-4. I In MiG-21BiS vs. Phantom its a matter of first getting close, to avoid that sparrow BVR kill, after that R-60 will kill anything. And then its guns-guns-guns!

You'll need the mirage...
Still there is problem with the radar - as I said - when you are playing another radar equipped airplane (even radar gunsight) and have the early MiG's on the map at the same time, you're getting text of RP-21 locked... strange but true. I hope S-3 will repair it for us somewhere in the future
