On my side, I just want to share simple things : paintschemes and samples.

my advice is: DO NOT share the whole paintscheme folder!
make different links INSIDE this paintscheme directory,
start with the skins, it should be the simplest one to start with.
Do the MatManager when you are firm with what you are doing!

I have managed to share the folder PaintSchemes my two installations but with the files SFS but also I got the symbolic link not start me Simulator. 

I use W7

So... 10 days now that I share my Skins and Samples folders, in full. Works like a charm ! I am enchanted ! I saved so many space on my harddisk : almost 200 Go !

Sadly in XP (oh yes I use this as I was too lazy to do the win7 upgrade finally, brrrr  ) there are no symbolic links, they come with Win7, in XP there are junctions and hardlinks only.

Thanks for sharing the information about Symbolic-Links for IL-2! 

There is actually a Symbolic Link Driver for Windows XP for download here:

I haven't tested it though.
