Drawing Tablets
« on: May 15, 2013, 03:23:26 AM »

Who, among the artists in this community, uses a tablet. What brand & size do you use or recommend?

I've always wanted one but never had enough motivation to shell out the sums necessary.

I use a tablet. It is from bamboo... dont ask me about the size... roughly the size of a A5 piece of paper (If that tells you something)
It is very helpful to paint realistic camouflage and weathering.

EDIT: Those who aren't familiar with the DIN System: Its approximatly the size of a generic Ipad :D

Ok, one WACOM user. :)
Anyone use Tursion/Huion?

I was looking at this one last night: Tursion Graphic Drawing Tablet with 8 Hot Key, 10 x 6.25 Inches

Looks like it has pretty standard RPS and Pressure Sensitivity. The only drawback in it's design for me is my left-handedness.

I use a small wacom, a bamboo pen of 278 mm x 176 mm x 11 mm
I did a skin for the he 162 that I called "Colibri", sadly I lost it in the many re installations of my game  :(

this tablet is fun to use, it's small, reliable, and I definitely recommend wacom's in general for non professional use (at least) but I'm inexperienced in that matter so...  :-X

I mostly draw little things in my spare time ( http://arziben.deviantart.com/ it gets interesting at the end of page one and page 2 :p ), I should go back to skins though

edit and on a quite unrelated note:

damn you just made me want to do that skin again, and I actually did: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3623.msg376099.html#msg376099

haha, your topic gave me the skin fever back Bonez ;D

Well, I went and got a tablet ordered from monoprice on their ebay store. 50 bucks and change. I see they raised the price on it $6 since then, too.
Should be here Thursday or Friday.

Spent my Memorial Day weekend ridin' money to do it so instead of a weekend of motorcycling, it's a weekend of playing with the new toy.

A Graphics tablet may or may not be part of your standard tool set, depending on the type of job you do. Regardless of whatever manufacturer created your Graphic tablet, it arrived with a CD that contained installation software, drivers, and potentially a user manual. Before you plug the device into Windows 7,8, or whatever operating system you're using, install the manufacturer's software.
