The work continues. Recently Phlegethon has test-flown the retextured map and he liked what he saw :) He also made some good suggestions which I'm now trying to implement. It all takes time but there's no substitute for experience, and when I started this project, I had none.

I'm also fine-tuning some parts of the map. Here's the transition from the sands of Libya to the Tunisian landscape:

And here's Libya for comparison:

Okay, Ladies and Gentlemen, it's available for download :) I could spend more days and weeks refining it but I think it's good to go as it is. Let's call it version 1.0. All the objects are original, I only changed textures. I use HSFX 6.0.
Here's the download link:

https://www.mediafire.com/?74b8fyj3hvwq1kk

In the download I included a pack of QMB missions, which I had used for testing the map. I did some massive 32 vs. 32 air battles, and everything worked fine. There are three missions for every side, in three different corners of the map - Italy, North Africa and Greece - all with 'target' as 'none'. In the QMB menu select '+', '-' or '=' (which stands for advantage, disadvantage, equal) in the 'Position' (Pos.) sub-menu, to jump to another part of map.

The textures I used come from various maps, and all of them were made by other talented modders, mostly agracier, redko, RedEye_Jir and cyberolas.
Thank you all for encouragement, it really helped. Special thanks got to SAS~Bombsaway who taught me the basics, to Ectoflyer for the initial encouragement and beta-testing, and to Phlegethon for beta-testing. And of course to Volperossa, who made this map.
Hope you'll like it. Any feedback will be very welcome.

THX for sharing, Lagarto ...  ;)

I don't know if this is on purpose, but a few .tga files in the _Tex folder are not in indexed colors and thus weigh 3 Mb instead of 1 Mb, but I have not yet installed the map , so may be there are some alpha channel things that prevent them from being turned into indexed colors ...  ;)

I 'll install and test it tomorrow ...  ;)

Yes, exactly :) I tried to make them more compact but I was getting a pop-up message that the file couldn't be saved in the reduced color palette.
