OK, go easy on me... Skin question
« on: January 18, 2013, 06:39:09 AM »

Admins - really sorry if this is the wrong place but it appears the only place I can post. Please feel free to move or point me in the right direction.

OK, my question is this.

I have tinkered around with Checkyersix's Jetbomber mod to try and re-skin it. I want a just for fun, stand in for an Eygptian IL-28 for Suez based missions and it does a decent enough job.

So it took me a while to figure out which tga's to use and I also had to create a separate skin which changes only the fuselage. So how do I make all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together?? My guess is this is not so straightforward?

Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

If I hazard a guess, this is a franken model, so the template 'might' be a bit hodgepodged in terms of skinng, but this is an assumption.

Yeah I created a base skin, using the skin1o.tga, then amended the F84skin.tga, the PV2, the AR234 and the A20...it is how I then (if possible) cobble them together to make just one flat bmp file... **scratches head repeatedly** :)

IIRC, it is not possible to make one flat .bmp with Franken planes of this nature.

I think you replace the .tgas in the relevant folder with the ones you edit.
This means that you can't select the skin the same way as with a regular model.

Alternatively, if you are feeling up to the challenge, you can re map the model by cutting and pasting the parts of the various .tga files to one .tga (but this might require that you move around the mapping on the model its-self in Max or whatever program you chose...

Hey dinosaurJR,

I suspected that might be the case. As for re-mapping the model that (at the moment) is waaaaaaay beyond my skills! :)

Thanks for the feedback though.
