Not a worry, best bet is to copy YOUR Il2 folder over the the new system(s) that way it's automatically compatible.

Already uninstalled the 1st install that was 4.11.1. Now I am reinstalled and patched  up to 4.10.1. I am viewing another thread "some little rookie problems"
 https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30488.0.html.
regarding installing ultra pack 3 "Max the hit man" wrote a detailed step by step guide. I have been reading it but am not sure what is meant by the follwing
Next download Ultrapack 3... via Torrent if possible

1 - UP 3.0 RC Client release - http://ultrapack.tuttovola.org/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=4

2 - UP 3.0 RC4 Client Patch - http://ultrapack.tuttovola.org/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=3

3 - Download and install into #UP# folder a Diff-Fm for UP 3.0 RC4.
Get it here - https://www.mediafire.com/?hd2rlsa28vf3z3b
This will allow you to later install new mod-airplanes into the Ultrapack 3 version

The red highlighted part. Does that mean I should put the Ultrapack RAR files in a different folder within the main IL2 1946 folder?I don't know what Dif-fFm means.

OK so do I install or put the file folder "Diff Fm for UP 3.0 RC4" in the IL2 1946 main folder and then extract the 2 files, UP 3.0 RC Client release and UP 3.0 RC4 Client Patch inside the "Diff Fm for UP 3.0 RC4" folder. and install them inside this folder?

No. First install "UP 3.0 RC Client release", then install the "UP 3.0 RC4 patch". After you have UP 3.0 RC4 installed and running correctly, only then do you install Diff-Fm into your #UP# folder.

If however you're only going  to play DBW, then you don't need to worry about installing Diff-FM since DBW already has it included.

That install procedure was required until DBW 1.6 and became obsolete when the 1.7 superpacks were released. ;)

It is still applicable if he already downloaded all the patches up to 4.101, as well as UP 3.0 separately. From his original post this seems to be the case.

If so, he only needs the "DBW 1.0 to DBW 1.71 Superpack", not the massive "4.07m to DBW 1.71 Superpack"... unless of course if he doesn't mind wasting an extra 8 GB of his internet data for something he already has (2.2 GB vs 10.4 GB).

If however he hadn't saved the files he downloaded before, he might as well download the complete Superpack.

Ok I installed / extracted  UP3.0 installed and the UP 3.04 hot fix in the main IL1 1946 folder tested it used the few mods I have , they or it seems to work , Now it looks like the next step would be to install the  "DBW 1.0 to DBW 1.71 Superpack" as Yeager suggested correct? also there is no Ultrapack folder in this IL2 1946 main folder. Just the files extracted from UP3.0 installed and the UP 3.04 hot fix.

Yes, once you have UP 3.0 RC4 installed and working correctly, you can install the "DBW 1.0 to DBW 1.71 Superpack".

Here's the link (check the first post by CirX):  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,21514.0.html

I read the link you provided. Still not sure if UP 3.0 RC4 should have been installed in its own folder within IL2 1946. Its not. I also downloaded a PDF file Modact 3.6 guide. been reading it but I gotta get DBW going first.
