WIP J1N1 2048 Template *Update*
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:26:36 AM »

I decided to jump on the 2048 Hype as well as to train my own templatefromscratchmaking skills :D :D :D

*Update:*

I have it ingame right now. Added some rivets. And changed the colour.

Still a long way to go.

batbomb, for better results maybe you can use 1px penel for oblique panel lines, avoiding the typical scaling of pencil lines :) i suggest creating one layer of straight lines and another for oblique ones (so you can trim them more easily) then when all is done merge in one unique panel layer :)

keep up the good work you brave! 2048 is the (new) way!

S!

A Pencil used for angled lines look really bad in 1024, I can imagine in 2048 they will look far worse,
Just a single pixel pen will do a perfect job :)

your right. I used a very zoomed in screenshot, therefore it looks so stupid. The whole plane looks very good actually. I will try to get out some decent rivets and cut the shapes out for a masklayer next. Then will come interiour and stuff. Maybe some of our Japanese friends could provide a good cockpit picture or drawing of the J1N1 Instrument Panel?

It still looks like you are using a pencil?

Now that the subject is up, I'll dare to ask.

I don't have pencil to work on skins, all mouse. Question: for what kind of skinwork is the pencil really an advantage? (as I may consider buying one)

Me too, I have just "mouse". More precisely the notebook small mousepad  ;D

Whenever I have to make angled lines I usually make a straight line layer and then rotate it to needed position. Using 1 pixel resolution makes good results for me. If there are any curves involved I can always bend it over distorting the line.

Sorry thats no what I ment by pencil, I mean the angled lines have been drawn with the pencil option in photoshop giving stepped line with no feathered gradiant

unlike using a single pixel brush

pencil is good for uneven stuff like mottled camouflage. This really improved my results in skinning italian planes.

I would reccomend using the 1-pixel wide Brush in some parts, but I work diferently.

Good luck on your fine paintwork.
I will be looking forward to flying your cool skin  8)
