If you fly against AI, then wing cannons are ok, but try to keep your energy loss to a minimum - avoid as much as possible ACM/dog-fighting, and if you get visible damage upon you right wing, your gonna wanna jump before the uber migs/yaks come around again...

If online verses reasonable pilot, then if you have to have some squad mates to watch your six and/or give you draw way opponants enough to get into a second B&Z blitzing position upon said opponants, or you got stick and rudder controls and so can be more 'svelte' with the controls to maximise energy conservation.

You would rarely see this option on the east front, and planes that had the R6 option tended to
quickly have them removed, and sometimes the FuG 16 radio was removed as well. To naturally save weight,
and the fact it was rare to see a -17 or -24 in russian skies. The single 3cm Mk 108 was more then adequate.

The R6 was mainly used in the west against the heavies.

i was referring to the idea that a 109 with a gunpack "can" technically not be used to enter a dogfight.
or that with the gunpacks, even if it entered a dogfight, it "can" technically not win.

many more parameters come into play to define what "works" and what "does not work"
