Thanks for the good feedback and valid comments from your side, much appreciated.  ;)

Regarding the bailout;  Knocke was using a most unusual procedure resulting in a very quick exit on that day: he kicked the stick forward, creating a "negative G" and thus ejecting the unstrapped pilot from the cockpit immediately. So it will look something like a spring pushing the pilot out, I suppose.

With the aircraft turbulence I was trying to imitate the same conditions as in the 1980's movie "Memphis Belle" but I think maybe a bit overdone. :-[

that was awesome, though Aces High could have helped you out on those cockpit angle shots, other than that i'd pay to watch the whole story on DVD. on the historical notes i saw a pic of a B-17 without the cockpit flying, my heart sank for some reason, do you have the picture still?

Thanks Rad Pig: here is the relevant picture, it looks a bit doctored to me  :)

I think it must have been a bad feeling for the remaining crew when they discovered their AC is flying without a cockpit :(
