a problem and a question regarding .eff files
« on: May 21, 2012, 09:29:15 PM »

Hi, :)
I am quiet a lover of this awesome game. There's this problem associated with the 'plutonium effects' mod that I've encountered and I find it distasteful. I didn't know if i'm asking a 'noob' kind of question so I thought to remain in the safety area. Maybe this thread doesn't belong here. :-\
But anyway, 'plutonium effect' mod said in its description about infinite fires in-game. I liked the idea. but in my case, I see that no fire lasts more than a few seconds. I go bombing entire cities only to watch them go ice cold a few seconds later. >:( Then I did some research and learned about the .eff files which are used to define timings from places such as here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=11.0.
And i discovered that the setting 'finishtime -1' relates to infinite fire. Now the file 'wreckage_burn.eff' in the mod contains this line fine so I'm now at a dead end. :(
I'm looking at you guys for help.
I use modact on 4.101m version. I don't have any of the conflicting mods told about in the description.

Regards,
Phoenix

I would recomend having a look at this

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,20929.0.html

It is based on plutonium and i think will solve your desires  ;) The view distance mod is also excellent, personally  I actually prefer 4.1, :) but they drop into JSGME so you can chop and change very easily

Plutonium was outstanding in its day but these have now moved the game on

thanx for the link mate! didn't know that a better set of fx are now available. :o plutonium mod is obsolete then I reckon. anyway i still need to learn to tinker with the .eff files. I've read a few posts on the subject and I'm learning by trial and error method so far.

cheers :)
Phoenix.

 :)

Good luck!
Hi, Verhängnis! :)
I've already seen your post and the links therein. I have some doubts. :-\ I've put them forth on the same thread. It is better suited to discuss it there in my opinion.
