That is interesting but think about the airframe time, which is less straining, one shuttle journey or a tanker and an a-10 racking up hours on their frames?

Hmm...
US to Kabul, what 14 hours of flight...  what, 1 tanker can be sent along 4 A-10s? 2 A-10s? and carry spare parts along for the ride? A Cargo ship for Ammo and spare engines ?
(i suppose they can fly at similar speeds and that you do not send a lone A-10 to war...)

nothing i really have a clue about.
Guess the Airframe time is a valid point.
