whats the best?
the shatload of 109s, the new Carriers, and the redone Lvov map.
close on that, the P-40s an the Mitchells - pure pleasure.

but that is my opinion.

Viewed form afar, whats best is its ongoing development to enable pushing the game code limits, and how new material is integrated regularly...

Since I'm pretty new here, let me wade in.

There is so much here it will take you a while to absorb it all.  I was drawn to DBW because of all the different planes and different models of the planes that were available.  Then I started seeing and reading about some of the mods, Bismarck, Yamamoto, the split deck carriers, the Special Effects mods (smoke, destruction, etc.), and that is just the appetizers.  There are missions you can download, and there are tutorials for building your own missions, and . . .  There are not enough hours in the day to play and contemplate ideas, and get excited about possibilities of playing.  Sometimes it is like drinking from a fire hose.  I haven't even gotten to UP3 yet, because there simply isn't enough time in my schedule.  I love it.

And then there are the people here!  They are awesome!  They are so helpful and friendly.  Oh course, some are curmudgeons (you know who you are  ;) ), who are lovable in their own right.  It's like a family.  Sometimes there are disagreements, but it has always been respectful.  I love the people associated with this hobby that I have met here.  I often laugh out loud when I'm reading thru a forum topic.  And I'm having so much fun that it seems sinful.  And I love that also!

OH yes, now I am starting to navigate my way around this site & really liking it. Thanks in particular to Redspade's suggestion to look for missions & campaigns.

I´ve the same problem - no chance to extract the DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.001-file with 7z-Manager Vers. 9.20.

It´s very strange, because I could extract the JiversSoundmod_for_DBW.7z - file unproblematically!!!???

well DBW is great i use it but I would just get 4.11.1 and HSFX... sounds awesome, and well 4.10.1 is getting a bit outdated.

It´s crazy. No support to extract the files neither with 7zip nor with Quickzip on my Win 7 64 bit-computer. With my Win 7 32 bit - system it works  :-[ !!!! ????

I try to extract the file from the 32 bit computer to the other via network.

Ok, it works  ;D.

Below a small instruction to solve the problem:

1) Download

          DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.001
          DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.002
          DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.003
          DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.004

by torrent.

2) Copy and past these files to the game folder (advantage: There are no problems to define the correct path).

3) Don´t rename the file names.

4) Open only DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.001 by 7z-Manager and extract to gamefolder. The other files (DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.002 etc.) will extract automatically. Don´t try to extract DBW_1.71_SuperInstall.7z.002 etc.

5) When you start IL2 by IL-2 Selector, perhaps the screen will hang at 95% (as often described). Then activate in jsgmemod the patch "#DBW_6dofTrackIR_ClassFiles".

Sorry, in several posts I read, that people were confused because of the 4 files and had problems with the installation of DBW (i.e. see above the topic of this thread "need help"!!!! 8) ). Therefore the short instruction.
