yes, with the planesXXX.dat in combination with the ops files you can do a lot of variation and immersion, that´s the high art of dgen campaign building :)

I have in mind the "roles" assigned to planes:
ALL
Fighter
Jabo
Ground
Tank
Are there any other "roles", like Recon, Ships etc, "accepted" by DGen?

i also know LIGHT for fighter assigned also to ground atttack.

But i´m usualy do it with the planes.dat files.

EDIT: RECON should also work

not easy to answer ... it´s possible that it depends on the concerning line in the ops files, transfer loadout will be used, if your plane is the first

DeTransfer           4Y 4F

but that´s a speculation, the only way is to test it with trial and error.


Can You test this for Bf109F5 and F6 ?

sorry, i´m in the mid of a huge project with campaigns and skins, realy a lot of things to do atm, so i don´t have time for testing, cause all dgen testing is trial and error, extremly time consuming

but you can do it by yourself, add this plane to one existing german campaign in the classesXXX.dat file, together with the concering planesXXX.dat and XXXXXXplanesXXX.dat files, i think you have the knowledge of the meaning of the campaign files

I did tests a few days ago, without success. This is the reason why I ask the Master  :)

DGen generates new missions in campaign but I've no BF_109F5_DZZ/BF_109F6_DZZ as a recon to escort.
It seems that the opsxxxxx.dat file is too large and the number of trials is too small  :)  ,
but we can "use" Bf-109F5 and F6 as RECON, in the new campaigns  :)

The ops file isn´t to  large, you can put nine variations for each mission type into it, means you can do nine DeReconEscort missions into it. But is there any other Recon plane in the xxxxplanesXXX.dat, if so dgen chooses a Recon plane random, it can be the BF_109F5_DZZ or another assigned Recon plane. Delete alle the other assigned Recon planes in the xxxxplanesxxx.dat file and try again.

And you have to assign the BF_109F5_DZZ as RECON not as FRecon in the xxxxplanesxxx.dat.

Nine missions in opsxxxxx.dat - Is it minimum in this file?  I tried to create "monothematic" opsxxx file for Ju-88Torp but "not working".

You are right, other planes flying as recon.
And you have to assign the BF_109F5_DZZ as RECON not as FRecon in the xxxxplanesxxx.dat.
... but there are no Recon type of mission in xxxxxPlanes.dat for other planes. There are FRecon or Reconplane ONLY for other planes.
Syntax RECON I'm trying in classesxxxx.dat as new "role" and DGen working with no errors.

Not nine missions in ops file - the max. is nine missions for each mission type, means max. nine DeReconEscort, nine DePatrolCluster, etc.

And you can´t do only one type of missions in the ops file - for bombers i´m not sure. For Fighters there some MUST haves, a fighter campaign only works if there are ReconIntercept mission in the ops file included. Sometimes they are crashing when no FreeHunt missions included, but not every time. It´s all very special and with many exceptions.
