Strange MiG-17 behaviour
« on: February 28, 2012, 09:30:56 AM »

Hi all,

Today when I was on final approach in a Fresco-A, it suddenly became kinda strange...it started making hickup like moves, like a robot. For a moment I could still control it, and turn it towards the runway, but then I lost control and it turned left and crashed into the ground, still doing these hickup moves.

Here is the ntrk. I hope it is visible, because sometimes things are totally different in ntrk's  :D But for me it showed the behaviour, hope it does too in your game.
This is the first time I noticed something like this.

And yes I reflew the same mission again, and it happened again.

Playing DBW 1.7.1, with AI mod installed in #DBW folder (the downloadable ai mod, without it the hotkeys wouldn't show up), and other mods. I can post list of them if required.

Log doesn't seem to show anything interesting, but I'll post the part about the mission anyway :

OK, I played a completely different mission now, and it still happens. Only the MiG now explodes in mid air. No enemy presence in the mission of course.

Just tested the MiG-17PF, and it lands fine.

EDIT : Seems like it happens when I put my flaps down, it does not happen in normal flight.

This happened before in testing a long time ago before version 1 was released. It was later fixed and only happened at a certain speed when flaps were down. (I haven't seen ntrk but I take it it's the same thing from ur descriptions and sudden blow up). It occured on all mig 17s but was fixed. If the flightmodels have been changed since then perhaps the problem was reintroduced...

Alright :) Hope to see a fix soon, for now I'll just skip the landing in this bird  :D

Cheers and thanks :)

Yes, if you engage autopilot he will retract flaps and gear and go around, and you can take over again (until you lower flaps again).

The only way to land would be without flaps I guess...

As far as I remember it works fine unless you use landing flaps and around 250kmh. Take off flaps should be fine.

Should be an easy fix. Just need to copy the flap settings over from the other MiG-17s :)
