Update.

I have got both the Ju-188 and B-26 to fly.  ;D

So I have answered my own questions, it would seem.

"The model folder for a plane (Ranwers' Ju188 serves here as a representative ... ) contains a number of files with names like "FAF13F0C19A2148E", a sub-folder named '3do' and within this, a pair of sub-folders named 'cockpit' and 'plane', containing a large number of files each."

This folder tree goes in:

 ..\IL-2 1946 4.10 with UP3.0 + DBW\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\#DBW\#Ju188A-2

Meanwhile, the folder

..\IL-2 1946 4.10 with UP3.0 + DBW\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\Ju-188A-2

is an empty place-holder which is somehow populated on the fly via #DBW\#Ju188A-2.

You add a line to air.ini (which is in a folder-tree created by UP)  like
Ju-188A-2         air.JU_188beta 2                              g01   WINTER

... and make sure that the folder in 'skins' has the same name as the first element in this line.
... and you have to activate 4.101 Diff FM if required

... and off you go!

Thank you for your guidance.

Not quite out of the woods.
What are the rules for folder naming in

..\IL-2 1946 4.10 with UP3.0 + DBW\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\#DBW ?

I've got the Ju188 and B-26 flyinh happily, but am trying with the Ju388 without success.

I think I read somewher thatrt the folder name in #DBW don''t matter.

Ok, is there any reason why any otf these (prefixed with #)

Ju388K
flyable_Ju.388K & Prop 3d fix (410m tested) patch
Aircraft_Twins_Ju.388K

... will not work?

Cheers,

Don't know, but you really don't need it

ì am completely lost. confused. i think lizard makes it harder than it really is. or ... yes? no?
(but i am a user of JSGME... different)

game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/yourplane1
game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/yourplane2
game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/yourplane3
game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/yourplane4
game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/youreffectspackage1
game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/youpornvideo1
game root folder (the name of your game, with the exe in this folder)/#DBW/Ju388K

and inside the Ju388k folder is the entire code, all the files for that plane.
The Ju388K folder is the only Folder for the Ju388K.
There are no two Ju388Ks in the game, and so there is no sense of having 3 Ju388K related folders.

Ok. Thanks for your input. I will restate as a single question:

What are the rules for the naming of root folders within #DBW into which new aircraft models are placed?

For instance, is  Ju-388 ok but JU_388 not all right? All three of the varaiants I mention above result from uzipping of variants of the same 388 model. For example:

There are no naming rules except that - character deactivates any folder.
You need this update for Ju-388K:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,27773.0.html
Without it didnt work in DBW 1.71 for me neither, the plane didnt even appeared in the list.

Ok - I thought  that # activated a folder and its absence de-activated it. I'm talking about DarkBlueWorld.

if i remember correctly

"-" --> deactivates
"0" and" _" --> help to put a folder at the top of the list (priority load)

i can not remember seeing any other "naming" rules either.

I hope I can get some help.

I was recently forced to do a total re-install of my 4.10.1 package. I did a clean install of stock IL-2, ran it and it worked. I next installed UP 3.0 RC4, ran it and it also worked. I then torrented the 4.07m to DBW 1.71 superpack, no corrupted files, everything checked out. When I go to run DBW I get a 95% crash. I've checked, nothing is enabled (everything's on the left) in JSGME. I've gone through all the recommendations, even another complete re-install. So far nothing's worked. When I do switch to DBW, my IL2fb.exe is 156 kb.

Any ideas?

Try with DBW 6DOF class enabled in JSGME
