That was my question? How it is possible to have error messages for the A-5 cockpit if all the damage mat and textures can be loaded from the stock sfs.

I any case combining all the files from the UP3.4 dump, the extraction of Claymore sfs and stock sfs you can find here a complete (I hope) FW-190A-5 Cockpit.

All the replacement mat files mentioned in the UP3.4 A-5 cockpit class are there

https://www.mediafire.com/file/eba4scopsjdjp1q/FW-190A-5_complete.7z/file

Just to clarify that whenever I had a different version of the same file I kept the one from the dump and that my extraction rate from Claymore sfs (included in UP3.4) is more than 99% or missing 73 files out of 10,229

With the test archive I posted, it is likely that it is not relevant because by forcing the display with damaged textures, I do not take into account the code which in this case does not find these small!
The only possible thing is that these files are perhaps missing for the new cockpits that Bruno had created!
Example : A-6 LULU... A-8/R11... etc...

I found these files for the stock (SFS) cockpits:
fw-190a-4
FW-190A-5
fw-190a-8
fw-190d-9
fw-190d-9late
fw-190f-8
If it can reassure people, I will post these files as soon as I finish checking the Ta-152 cockpits!

If you wish, but I don't think it is useful to provide the full content of these folders... no ?  ;)

Problem is that the damage substitution mat for the A-8, D-9, F-8 have different names so your test files won't work in these cockpits
here the example from the A-8 cockpit
"F:\IL-2\IL-2_real\3do\Cockpit\FW-190A-8\D9GP1.mat"

Yes, I know. I noticed it when I checked with the Java code of the cockpits.
At home, I now have the other names. Example :
DA4GP1 ... DA5GP1 ... DA8GP1 ... DD9GP1 ...

After a whole lot of tests, I figured that the deeper I dive into this, the more weird stuff comes up.
First and foremost, the two Claymore 3D SFS Archives in Ultrapack (and apparently in BAT as well) are the 4.10 versions from 1st post of this thread.
The regarding D/L link is dead meanwhile.
The files are bigger than the 4.09 ones offered in this thread, and: They're incompatible. Endless name mismatches between the two versions. It's terrible.

The next weird thing I've found so far is that on certain cockpits (here: D-9), the night damage textures cause a dark-grey "frame" to be drawn around certain gauges.
See images below, one is the "daylight" damage textures and the other is the "night" one, I think the issue is quite apparent.

Further investigation shows that in Ultrapack we have the following "Plane = Cockpit: Cockpit 3D Folder" matrix:
Code: [Select]
A1 = A1: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-1/hier.him
A2 = A2: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-2/hier.him
A3 = A3: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-3/hier.him
A4 + A4FR + F1 = A4: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-4/hier.him
SeaFg = A4T: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A4T/hier.him
A5 + A5142ATA + A5158ATA + A5165ATA + A5U14 + A6 + A6165ATA + A6RLP + F2 + F2Trop + F3 + G1 + G2 + G3 = A5 + FG1: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-5/hier.him
A6LULU = A6LULU: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-6R8/hier.him
A7 = A7: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-7/hier.him
A7STURM = A7STURM: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-7/hierA7.him
A8 + A8165ATA = A8: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-8/hier.him
A8R11 = A8R11: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-8R11/hier.him
A9 + A9165ATA = A9: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190A-8/hier_A9.him
D9 + D92 + D9RLP = D9: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190D-9/hier.him
D9LATE = D9LATE: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190D-9Late/hier.him
D9early = D9early: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190D-9early/hier.him

D15 = D15: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190D-15/hier.him
F8 + FG89 + F8PB + F8U1 + F9 + F9PB + G8 = F8 + F8PB + F8U1 + FG89: 3DO/Cockpit/FW-190F-8/hier.him

Ta152C0 = 152C0 : 3DO/Cockpit/Ta-152C0/hier.him
Ta152C3 = 152C3 : 3DO/Cockpit/Ta-152C3/hier.him
Ta152H = 152H : 3DO/Cockpit/Ta-152H-0/hier.him
Ta152H4 + H5 + H6 = 152H4 + H5 + H6 : 3DO/Cockpit/Ta-152H-Paulus/hier_EZ42.him
Ta152HJ = 152HJ : 3DO/Cockpit/Ta-152H-Paulus/hier_EZ42_Jumo222.him
Ta152H1 = 152H_EZ42 : 3DO/Cockpit/Ta-152H-1/hier_EZ42.him

Almost half of the planes have missing textures - all across the place.
Except for some MW50 specific damage textures I could find all of them in other planes' 3D folder, and these MW50 textures seem to work with non-MW50 damage ones too, so that's kinda sorted.
Regarding the "black frame" issue on damage night textures, this turns out to be a really strange side effect of how IL-2 treats night textures.
In this particular case, the corresponding "day" textures have a darker frame around the affected gauges than around others, but "blank out" this part of the texture using their alpha channel.
That much that good, however the night textures aren't 32bit but 8bit indexed and as such, have no alpha channel.
Instead, their alpha blending gets evaluated using the "AlphaTestVal" set in .mat file.
Most night textures have this set to either 0.1 or 0.5, but if the underlying "day" texture is pretty dark in the areas you don't want to be seen, then you must use a higher AlphaTestVal in the night .mat file so that the indexed alpha blending mechanism picks up these parts as well.
This may have side effects - I didn't spot any so far though.
Using "AlphaTestVal  0.8" on the critical night texture's .mat files worked for me.

Will come up with a full set of fixes for 4.10 / Ultrapack later.

Here's my final result after a hundred or more restarts, test->fail->fix->test->fail->fix again->test->... loops etc.
There's been too many issues to name them all.
Folder name mismatches.
Texture name mismatches.
Panel layout mismatches.
Sudden panel layout changes due to damage texture mismatches.
Sometimes even just orientation mismatches.
Completely missing textures.
Malformatted textures.
Parameter errors in .mat files.
Everything, basically.

Here's a mirror of the 4.10 Claymore SFS archives this is based on: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ngw8wzmx1pddhqd/fb410_claySFS.7z/file
And here's the set of corresponding files that fix all apparent issues in Ultrapack 3.4 Patch 2: https://www.mediafire.com/file/s0l7h9f23u2spzs/fb410_claySFS_Texture_Fixes.7z/file

It's all about .mat and .tga files and their location. No Java error found, go figure.
Note that this is really only valid for Ultrapack in it's current state. I haven't tested any other game version (and to be honest, I won't).
YMMV.

Mike

P.S.: Looking at the .mat files you will see that many fixes simply lie in the fact that "night" textures were malformatted and I used the "undamaged" night textures for the "damaged" mat files. This works since in Claymore's pits there is generally no difference in the night illumination between damaged and undamaged gauges. Whether this is a valid approach or not would yet have to be discussed.
