Re-installed these new ones after editing out the old,& everything works fine, but I do have a question regarding both old & new versions of DBW Packs:By activating the new A/C Packs s in JSGME they,in essence (by way of changing the STD files) will eliminate any other new aircraft that I manually had loaded before the activation, in the DBW folder. In my case the new mod of the 4.11 TBD Devastator & the Russian Pe-8 & TB-3 with new interiors- they disappeared from my useable plane list.To get them to work I must go back & 'reload' them in STD files, correct? This will happen in the future if more A/Cs are added in some future Pack as well...correct as well?
Not a big deal , but i would like to make sure I've got the sequence right.
Again many thanks for this pack-o-fun...will never go back to another install-DBW has it all! :D

Yes, your best bet is to add your new aircraft that were not part of the #DBW_MOD_Aircraft pack, to the pack.  The new #DBW_MOD_Aircraft pack has been modified to support DBW 1.7.1, therefore, if you add the new aircraft directly to the JGME Aircraft pack, you should be good to go (as the ini files in the pack are now merged to vanilla DBW 1.7.1).  You would update the air.ini and related plane/weapon load entries as needed in the #DBW_MOD_Aircraft pack for the new planes, along with the mod files for the specific aircraft.

Just be sure to disable the #DBW_MOD_Aircraft in GME pack before making any edits/additions.

enjoy!

Thanks WindWeapon - I would have never thought of that way of doing things...but of course it makes perfect sense! ;)

Im installing part 3 of Version 3(DBW Maps).
Should I install it over the DBW Maps of version 2 , or should I delete the Folder from version 2 and copy the folder from version 3?
Thanks

Yes, deactivate and delete.  Then paste in the new maps pack and activate.

whats the significance of the '_' first charactor in the file name? so loads first? seems to make it not work. when I rename to 00_xxxxx (load first) it crashes like normal.

Yes, the character forces load order for the mods.  I have tested and found that the order set in the packs minimizes crashes.  Recommend not changing folder names unless testing.

Enjoy,

Hi windweapon,

After a clean install of 1.7.1 decided to download and install your packs.

Everything works great with them and it's a very good idea.  :D ;D

Just wondering though I do like the original DBW gui and how to revert back to that.

Would that be in DBW_ ETC folder ?

No probs elsewhere though great packs   :D  ;)

Yes, you can easily disable, by doing the following.

1)  Disable the #DBW_MOD_Etc pack in GME
2)  Open the pack located in your jsgmemods folder, and within the #DBW folder in the pack, put a "-" character in front of the folder named "2 Ecran_Wide."  Should look like:  "-2 Ecran_Wide"
3)  Enable pack in GME

You should now have the original DBW backgrounds restored.

The only caveat is that widescreen will also be disabled.

New V3 Mappack works great, Thanks!, one thing i prefered in the folder structure of previous version, was the ability to simply revert to non high resolution textures with the addition of a single " - " When flying in a campaign with a lot of action on those maps that use the high res textures, it was easy to change back to standard res for a bit less load on GRX card,

But this is a minor point  :)

Out of interest where is the Kuban repaint from?, is really nice with great atmosphere, towns and cities seem a big improvement, but am a little bit undecided about the "grey beach" texture
(perhaps only on my install?..am sure easily changed with a little load.ini edit)

*In Mods etc, i just deleted one .tga in GUI and the load screen is back to standard DBW*

Cheers, Dakpilot

Yea, I released the updated map pack to consolidate the package, but for those interested in disabling the high res textures, they could remain with the original v3 map pack, and simply add the Crimea update within the original v3 map pack, or navigate within the new map pack and use the "-" character to disable given high res texture calls per given map within the Map pack.

Actually the Kuban repaint comes from a noted update in this thread.

Sweet to see the Clean DBW Modding JGME Packs now listed under the "official" DBW Dowloads section!   :) :)

Of course, the real credit goes to the modders who created the enhancements which bring this game to life, both core DBW and the mods found in these packs.  My only contribution is a working framework to add the additions in a clean functional manner.

Hope everyone using DBW 1.7.1 + CLEAN DBW Modding JGME Packs v3 enjoy the experience as the guys who created this magic really breathed plenty of new life into an excellent flight sim!   :)
