Do you know if we have RAF fighters escorting USAAF bombers ?
I also would like to make recon missions with Mustangs I, is it possible ?
Anyway, I think recon mission in DGEN are the closest thing we have to "Rhubarb missions"

yes  

the B 26 is the only addition to DBW you will need to install, it´s to vital for ETO operations to miss it

the plane set in a subcampaign is random, so you will see also RAF fighters escort US bombers evry now and then

the Mustang MK 1 is also assigned to the recon role, but as player you will fly it "only" as fighter or fighter bomber, to do recon missions for the player in degn campaigns isn´t an easy task

there are enough escort missions included, problem is that dgen.exe is choosing between them and the other mission types, so sometimes you have to fly a lot of escorts and the next time nearly none
