Sadly the limits of my modding abilities are basic frankenplanes  :(

Fortunately since all the parts for this model are from aircraft based on the MkVIII model it all fits together and the mapping works, the only issue being that the MkXII fuselage (chosen because the MkVIII fuselage is too long) and MkVIII cowling have slightly different profiles.

For a good modder editing one mesh would be a simple task.....  ;)

Hate to raise the dead buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut....
Heres hoping for future finishing/inclusion into DBW. Hell Id be ecstatic as it is now, but the DBW crew are perfectionists in many things.

regardless this has become one of my must haves. Thanks again!

Could someone please share the files that define clipped wings (that are dropped in the 3do folder) for both "C" and "E" wings to work with this mod??

I am asking for meshes (?) that are needed to make clipped wings
(not really sure how to do it, but guess it can be "borrowed" from a Spit Mk.VIII?)

I am trying to convert this mod for stock planes, which I succeeded by renaming the folders in 3do/plane and copying them for the clipped wings versions.
All of them now do have new 3D, but all have standard wings...

I must say I converted the mod for my own use, I just prefer replacing the stock machines than adding new...

That would be a much more elegant solution than editing campaigns to use this bird.
Hope to see someone release a fix like that soon, to replace the stock 3d.

Also, David603, Id like to say that this has made the MKV spits look just terrible in comparison...hint hint!

Here the version of the mod I had for my own use before CrazyFlak made the new slots.

It replaces the external models and cockpits of the original Mk.IX Spits. You won't have the opening canopy or new FMs though, it may clash with any other Mk.IX mods, and I seem to remember a few bugs, but its basically functional.

CWMV, I did look at trying to adapt the model to be a Mk.I or Mk.V, but it would require a number of new/edited meshes for the engine, spinners and canopy...

YA those are what really stand out now, the spinners and canopy.
Not sure why, its just one of those what has been seen cannot be unseen things.

Thanks a lot! I just copied the wing mesh files into my "new" mod folder and got the best of both!  :D

If you are interested in further refining the 3d model, I noticed few minor things:
Firstly, the rear fuselage length. I noticed it's a tad shorter, while the VII has the correct fuselage

Also, the windscreen should taper towards the top a bit more (or should be narrower, can't really tell...)

The rear fuselage on the MkVIII is too long and has a pronounced humpback, Zorin rebuild it using blueprints for his spitfire Mk.XII, and I used his fuselage for the MkIX ;)

In your picture the real spit is being distorted by perspective, and the angle makes it look longer.

No idea about the windshield, can't tell without pics from the same angle.

OK, my mistake about the length  ;)
As for the windscreen, I fonud a photo from the same angle as my in-game shot

As I can see, it is much narrower and tapered...
