If your mouse doesn't work try alt-tabbing out of the game and go back into it, sometimes my mouse doesn't work at the main screen and I have to do that.

This is very common - I know many IL2 flyers that have this issue. It is caused by pressing keys or moving controls whilst the game is loading. Once the game begins to load, leave well alone until finished.

I upgraded this time last year to a GTX460 1GB and had the damndest time getting things right. About 2 months ago , I discovered Invidia Inspector and Game Booster from IOBIT and those in combination have solved most of the issues. FPS has gone up and the world famous IL-2 stu-stu-stuttering has been minimized.

Hope this helps ,

Running 2  1gb PNY GTX 460's in SLI and have no probs.
Getting 63fps constant in OpenGL with Vsync on and 240fps with Vsync off (get vertical tearing when moving my head though with Vsync off.)

Gamebooster is very useful; been using it for more than a year; akodonnell & Sid are correct too. Normally alt-tabbing to get the mouse working, is required 2 tab cycles - get out of game, back in, back out - let deskstop load after it doesn't the 1st time, then back in, et voila.
