Large RLV_Night map BETA v0.5

-----------------------------------------------
CHANGES IN v0.5:
-Newer, better, more realistic forrest areas
-Rotterdam and Hamburg ports fixed
-Koblenz is now located where it should be
-New airfield RAF West Raynham
-Missing runway plates fixed
-----------------------------------------------

~900 x 440km 1:1 scale map. Covering London, the Netherlands, Belgium, northern France and northwestern Germany (incl. the Ruhr area, Cologne, Farnkfurt, Hannover, Hamburg, Leipzig, Dessau, Chemnitz, Schweinfurt).
Extensive river network. SRTM derived map_h.

This is intended as a nightfighting map (but should be good enough for high altitude daylight missions as well), therefore:
THE MAP IS UNPOPULATED, TEXTURING IS VERY BASIC, THERE IS NO MANUAL FMB TOUCHUP OF map_h, MEANING IN SOME PLACES RIVERS MIGHT STILL FLOW UPHILL IN NARROW VALLEYS...
...and the 'low altituders' among you would probably be disappointed with this map.

The map would need more work still, but is fully playable and considered 'good-enough' for (beta) release. I am not working on it currently, so a final version will only be around in the far future. In the meantime, feel free to improve this map further yourself.

Airfields on the map:

1. Modelled after historic prototypes:
- Muenster-Handorf (on custom texture)
- Rheine-Hopsten
- Venlo (Rwys only)

2. Modelled after historic prototype typologies (for example: 3 concrete runways in triangular layout, etc):
- Luebeck-Blankensee
- Stade
- Nordholz
- Wittmundhafen
- Varel
- Leeuwarden
- Neuruppin
- Vechta
- Wunstorf
- Stendal
- Twente
- Plantluenne
- Rheine (Bentlage)
- Jueterbog
- Deelen
- Volkel
- Eindhoven
- Kassel-Rothwesten
- Koeln-Butzweilerhof
- Bonn-Hangelar
- Langendiebach
- St. Trond
- Le Culot
- Florennes
- Cambrai

3. RAF airfields (many are simplified versions of 352nd cross channel map airfields):
- RAF Lympne
- RAF Hawkinge
- RAF Manston
- RAF Detling
- RAF East Church
- RAF Rochford
- RAF Horn Church
- RAF Stapleford
- RAF North Weald
- RAF Martlesham Heath
- RAF Watton
- RAF Horsham St. Faith
- RAF Coltishall
- RAF Oulton
- RAF West Raynham

For those preferring a greenish H2S like overview map, you can download it here:

https://www.mediafire.com/?spxf2v02tsu368w

and change the MAP2D entry in the load.ini from ed_map_1.tga to ed_map_1-RAF.tga.

For the mission builders, here are three "empty" mission files. One contains all the radio beacons and runway lights, a second one additionally contains flak and searchlights (Checkyerflak! mod by CY6 required), and a third one is for daytime missions, as it has only the beacons and flak (=no landing lights, no blind landing aids and no searchlights). Download: https://www.mediafire.com/?m32b0ybr2bs2sqt

Enjoy the map and happy (night)fighting.

Great work Sputnikshock !!!

It will be the right "sandbox" for the Mosquito NF.30.   A good motivation to continue the work on this plane !

Thank You for this great MAP

Well, given that a Mossie at cruise speed would need about 3h to fly across the map east-west, I wouldn't necessarily speak of 'sandbox'... LOL

Has any one managed to get this working with DBW?

The "old" version with the bumpy plates works fine in DBW. I haven't had a chance to download the "new" version because my home was without power for 24 hours because of a big storm.
I found that I only had to load the new map textures.
