Edit: Just discovered that the torrent download connects me to lots of other unidentified, untrusted computers. Perhaps stupidly, I thought it would only connect me with the ROF site. Since I can't afford to replace an infected system, I'll steer clear. Oh well, you live and learn.

Thats the way how a torrent works. Instead of getting the whole file from a set server, you download from people that have the complete file (called seeders) and people that are  currently downloading (leechers). This means the more people are downloading, they are also uploading, which greatly enhances speed.

Fair enough, but if you download the torrent from the official website you can be pretty damn sure it isnt corrupted

Airspeed is all that matters, the funnyest plane to fly is the Gotha when you finally manage to get it off the ground it is a real challange just to keeep it flying managing the radiators  and throttle at the same time you must get that damn thing to climb without making it go to the left into an spiral stall that you can not recover from. You will find yourself fighting this plane for half an hour to get altitude just for loosing it in a stall. And reading about it , shows how historical correct it is. That plane was thrown in to air just because of a great need. Many accsidents did happend

As Fusek said, it is an official torrent, so it's highly unlikely that anything is wrong with it. I downloaded it last night and was playing for awhile, I had no problems at all. Besides, you can always check the torrent's hash code and verify the code with the source. If the numbers match, the torrent hasn't been changed, corrupted, or had viruses attached.

Thanks Friction, I think I'll learn a bit more about torrents first. It's the idea of being connected to numerous, unknown computers that bothers me.

Arkbird, brilliant mate, thanks. Sadly my mobile dongle's running really slowly at the moment; I'm looking at 6-10 hours just for 3 odd gigs.

P.S. The dongle's rented from 3. Shit product, shit service!

My time was the same before and with the torrent. I switched to torrent because my downloader seems to freeze with large downloads.

Wow... 6 - 10 hours? With the torrent, I got the whole thing in about the time it takes to smoke a cig.  You should definately look into the torrent. While there are alot of suspicious and nasty things transmitted through them, as long as you're downloading a legit and legal file from a legit and legal site, you won't have any problems. It's when you start downloading other shady stuff (pirated wares, porn, movies etc...) that you may encounter problems if you aren't carefull.
