3.0 & HSFX
« on: May 31, 2011, 11:10:18 AM »

This has probably been asked already so forgive me if it has been answered. Has Hsfx been included in the 3.0RC ?. I have a online coop mission that I downloaded from Mission 4 today and it is made for 410.1 with HSFX 5.1 enabled. I have ran this mission on my machine with 3.0 and it works fine. Some of my Squadron Mates seem to think it will not work on hyperlobby. What do yall think ??

I have a question? ???
I know that UP-3 and the SaS-ModAct should all work with only one install.I have been told by an anonymous source that  HSFX 5.0.1.
Can also be added to this one install.
What I would like to know is HOW. Lost in west Texas.

Ok I had a clean install or 4.10.1 with UP-3 all working.
As by HaDeS statement just install it.[HSFX 5.0.1]
NOTHING works. Game will not load or start.

D:\Ubisoft\Sturmovik 1946

Any ideas?

Before installing HSFX make sure that all mods are dis-activated in JSGME and make sure that the content of your jsgmemods folder is ok and all themods are there and point toward the good folders. Then check if you have overwritten the il2fb.exe selector.   You should be able to recognize the il2fb.exe as the icon of the two exe is different and the selector has a red star icon.  If everything is fine you cal launch the HSFX session by choosing the classic mod game option
Final suggestion, think well before making a mixed install, while advantages are obvious you need to understand well how everything works.

and some advice from me, for one and all: I know auto installers are cute and efficient and easy.

but man...just say "NO".  :D

"Install" with your auto-installer first to an empty folder somewhere, and INSPECT the contents at least before blindly unleashing it onto your unsuspecting game.

And for crying out loud, dont go installing things into your main game install after downloading them. Have a "test" install that you can afford to break. I know a shitload more about mods than many, and even I NEVER INSTALL STUFF INTO MY GAME ON FAITH. I inspect, and I test, and therefore, I almost never have any shit.

And as Frankiek says, and I have also said many times, yes, coexsistent installs is very possible, but if you do not know enough to manage it when it gets tricky, please, dont do it. Just have an extra install or two.

Bottom line is, treat your main game install like you would treat your ass. At least look new things over and pick off the splinters, and test them on your cellmate, before going ahead and ramming them up in there.

Thanks for all the help. I took CirX advice and tested it on a backup copy.I tested all the options in the JSGME,and there are a lot of choices there, so you will have to have the right combinations to get the one you want to play. But it works :-* Again i want to thank all the people that worked so hard to bring this old Sim up to today's standards. if it wasn't for the folks that love this game it would have went the of all the others flight simulators,Relegated to a few players that just keep on playing the same old stuff. You all bring new life to old stuff,That's what keeps people coming back so they never get bored. So why would i want to go buy a new WW2 flight Sim when the one i have just keeps getting better all the time and its FREE !! Hell I'm 72 years old and can remember the years when WW2 was the real thing. I was to young to serve but always wanted to be a combat pilot, and fly a B-24 Liberator like my uncle Bill did for 25 combat mission out of Australia. Now I can thanks to Yall.

After screwing up my first install, I decided to RTFM (several of them actually) and decided the best procedure was to start with a clean 4.10.1 game, then install HSFX 5.0 first, then SAS Modact 3, then UP3, then the Big F'ing default skin pack over the whole thing. If you're careful to test between each step, this will be (I think) the most straight forward order (less messing around later) and will give you an extremely flexible setup in the end (at least it worked great for me).

However you go, the "4 way install" is great. Get invited to an SEOW? Select your Jsgme preferences, and switch to "classic Modpack" and your rockin' with HSFX. Cruising Hyperlobby after your done and discover that the busiest server is running 4.10.1 but allows Mods? Go ahead and select it, 'cause the switcher will allow you to switch to Modact 3 before the game starts up. I believe this setup really achieves the idea of bringing the community together without forcing us into a straight jacket, and gives each player more options (without all that hard drive bloat).

A big hats off to both the SAS and UP teams for making this possible.
