Failure to launch
« on: May 25, 2011, 08:36:07 PM »

I'm having the same problem with UP 3.0 I had with the SAS Mod Activator 3.2/3.4, it will not launch at all, I hit the desktop icon, I get the game selector gui, I select TIR support, and hit launch game, the gui dissapears for about a second or so, the IL2 icon is in the task tray at the bottom and the gui is back on the desk top again, I could not get the Mod activator to launch with any of the work arounds on this website.  The stock game launches just like normal, I get the 4.10.1 in the bottom left corner while it loads. I was afraid when I could not get the SAS version to launch I would have this problem with the UP version as well.  From having to come up with work arounds I figured it would of been figured out and fixed before UP was released.  If anyone with intimate knowledge of how to get this thing to work has any ideas please let me know, I really don't like playing the vanilla version of the game, otherwise I will just have to go back to UP 2.0 and play offline.

Thanks for your help and assistance ahead of time

I figured it out right after I posted, it was the RAM slider on the gui, I had not read anywhere that you should start out at zero and work your way up.  I have 2Gb of RAM but I can only put the slider at 768Mb, if I go higher the game won't start.  But all is good now.

Good to know that, BeoWolf.
RAM usage is a very sensitive setting. In doubt, quite like in the old days before the selector, 512MB should be treated as the safety limit and everything above should be selected only in case something special has to be done which really requires more RAM.

Best regards - Mike
