I just thought yesterday, how cool it would be to have the gun turrets strafe ground targets... and you dit it. Thanks a lot!

Is it possible to add it to other planes (ju88 for example)?

Hi mate!

This is a great mod because introduce the AI gunner in active role other that AAA!

Just a thought about strafing gunner:

I believe that historically the most parts of the strafing was done by waist gunner because they are the guy who have a large ground field of view and a gun that can be lowered and traversed a lot!

We must take care (in B25):

- The tail gunner have the second best position but it's gun have a limited envelopment and every roll and turn give it a great offset angle hampering the correct sightseen!

- Belly gunner is out of game due the aiming too much complicated!

- Dorsal gunner should keep eyes at the sky because is the only one that can well scan it....and it's turret should be looked to be fired by pilot among frontal guns!

So I think that the more historical reproduction of the strafing should be from waist gunner and that they should let be free of targeting because is also very hard for the pilot trageting at them!

I hope to don't bother but I'm writing only with impouvement scope not critcal!!!

I'm intended to add this feature to B-25 series & B-24J-100, and thinking about implementing this in future updates to my old He-111H-6 & FW-200C-4 mods. This last one definitely needs to be updated, since it no working correct in 4.101.

Specifically about Ju-88, I think, mount weapons placement & low firepower makes it a little value for air-to-ground operations, just not worth bothering.

Yes, I looked up the armament and it is just 7.92mm (but twins). And probably just the nose guns could be used.

B25, B24, He111 and FW200 would be very nice !

Thanks for appreciating my humble efforts.
I tried to do something like this before, in He-111H-6 & B-24J100 mods, there pilots (either AI or human) can use fore turrets as fixed guns, but now it's close to real solution. It remains only to finish some tuning and fix some glitches (4ex., 360-rotating turrets spraying ammo, then moving line of fire from one tgt to another).

B-25G-1 added to Strafer mod.
Same additional loadouts, as for B-25H-1.
Again, 3 more cockpit positions, compared to AAA B-25G-1 cockpit mod. Added co-pilot position, navigator position, and belly Bendix turret operator position.


Navigator position (placeholder). I'm not sure it's a good idea and, probably, will remove it.



Bendix belly turret periscope views.

Then turret retracted, only rear blister view available. If U switch-off gunner autopilot, turret will lowered and U will get turret periscope view.

Also, strafing gunners AI developed further. Some glitches fixed for B-25H-1, and B-25G-1 also get strafing gunners feature. So, now six Brownings available for ground strafing instead of two. Personally, I'm comfortable with being outnumbered, but I hate to be outgunned  8)

take B-17 G formation (12ships) + enemy ground troops + low and slow flypast = 8x12 =96 Guns shooting at enemy troops in vehiecles, AAA, and tanks.

pure murder

B-25C-25 Mitchell additional cockpits & loadout, air-to-ground gunners

Update: B-25C-25 "Mitchell" added to the mod.
Loadouts list extended with Mk 24 paraflares loadout.
2 more cockpit positions, compared to AAA B-25C-25 cockpit mod. Added co-pilot position and belly Bendix turret operator position.
Some unsignificant glitches fixed in gunners mod, for ex., Bendix turret animation on external views.
Since B-25C-25 has only one fixed MG, five more on turrets is significant addition for ground strafing. Targeting for B-25C-25 gunners is by padlock only (have not found anything better yet, as bombsight keys has its own functions in this plane).
J-1 "Mitchell" is on queue.

Love the B-25s, and the gunners are so often waisted  :D  thanks for this addition!
Now they are hitmans, not the passengers  8)

Enhancements for B-25J-1

Update: "enhanced" B-25J-1 "Mitchell" added to the mod.
Additional co-pilot cockpit position added.


Additional weapons loadouts is same as for "Strafers", including rocket weapons...


...but also some experimental loadouts added for v4.10: RAZON guided bombs & SWOD Mk 9 "Bats" radar-guided bombs.


RAZON bombs controls mapped on bombsight keys, so U will be unable to use sideslip & altitude controls of bombsight, if RAZON bombs loaded. However, AI will set altitude controls for U, in this case. U just will have to set speed controls of bombsight.
EDIT: on player AC, RAZON bomb releasing one-by-one (not salvo), either by player or bombsight automatoin input.

Another AI upgrade is a ground strafing routine, as for other B-25's in this mod. In J-1 modification, AI gunners targeting on player AC implemented by padlock.

Lock and load  8)
