Is autodesk Maya a good program?

IS anybody using it for modeling? Im going to use this program in school next year and we all get issued a copy to install on our home computers and i may want to play around with modeling.

Free Maya? Wow. That's great program. Not the easiest one, but good. My choice would be LightWave, since it have very simple interface. Maya's is not so simple, but program is great anyway, and many professionals use it.

If you can get your Professor to get signed up for this they you can get any Auto desk program
