Hello all, just thought I'd share some images of French Skyraiders I'm working on at the moment.

The fuselage uses the original Skyraider template as I'd already started to do these some time ago.
The wings use the newer wing template created by Highlander.  I may actually transfer all my layers to the new fuselage template just in case there are major differences I've not noticed.

These were inspired by the artwork of J Davy on WINGS PALETTE.

At the moment they use the A-1H folder, although French aircraft were actually AD-4's.

I've made three sets of wingskins for the +NewWingSkins folder, one with yellow wing tips, one with red and a plain wing that would allow you to use various squadron coloured aircraft all in the same mission.

Hello crazyflak, I always find time for the most important things in life, even sleep.

Glad you like them, they need re-colouring yet as the French aircraft appear to be Aluminium in colour, not sure if that is paint or they were stripped back to bear skin.  What you see in the post is my trials of the various badges and codes.  The overall colour will alter.

My attempt at replicating the Aluminium colouring used on French aircraft is progressing, slowly.

I've used a layer tinged with Blue to try and capture the effect, compare it to the as yet un-changed tailpanes.





All my layers have now been moved over to SAS~Highlanders's latest fuselage template so I can now
include the fuselage doors seen on most French machines.

The remaining files have now been painted and put in the +NewWingSkins file so I can see they all show up as they should.

I've coloured the undercarriage doors as per the actual aircraft, unfortunately the colour maps to the engine and the small radome on the fuselage.  I've tried various ways to solve this but alas it is this or no colour.  I personally can live with it as it doesn't map anywhere else that I can see.







Now I know all the various files work things should hopefully move along quite quickly now.

Three types of insignia only, no codes, have been put together, with matching wing sets and
wheel covers.

Red tips.


Plain, so this wing set could be used with any colour of main skin.


And yellow.  Just a slight problem with the airscoop on the AD4, need to find what colours it.

Glad you like them Checkyersix, all the credit must go to you and Highlander for the aircraft and the superb templates, thank you very much both of you.  I've just splashed a little colour here and there.

I more or less have everything sorted now, just a case of adding all the badges and codes from the original trial skins to the new background colour you see in some of the previous shots.

Thanks to a little advice from Highlander I've finally got the wing insignia something like.
It took a little pushing, pulling stretching and general fafing about but I now think they look ok.

I've needed to do a little tweaking today with the insignia, codes and badges.

Skyraider 123837 20-QB is now in her final state.  The badge is now a lot clearer,
I've figured out how to make it so. 



I've done a number of the skins using profiles but when loaded in sim the proportions don't quite seem
right so I'm in the process of putting that in order.  Essentially the markings will be made
to fit the mod aircraft rather than the profiles I'm using as reference.  This is after all a Franken,
a collection of parts of other sim aircraft, so things won't exactly be in keeping with the real aircraft.

A set of insignia only skins will be made for aircraft with the airbrake on the fuselage to go with
those that have the door, that way flights can be matched to the players skin.

I looked through the previous folder the other night and realised I had wrongly named some of the folders in the +NewWingSkins folder as AD-4 when they should have been AD4.  many appologies if any of you had a problem with these, I was obviously having one of my infamous gormless moments.
