Huge map!  4 x the size of Syvarii!  Glad that the old Leningrad region is getting re-done.
I thought about making a smaller map covering Siniavino/Mga - Lyuban - Tikhvin.  These were very important but forgotten battle sites.  I hope all the small villages, roads/RR in these areas are included.  Since your map will cover the same area then there's no need for me to make the map.  I might be able to offer some assistance.
 
If you need maps of those areas let me know.  Glantz's book on Leningrad (which I have) has some good maps.
His maps show even the tiny workers villages which were battled for during the several Siniavino offensives, and also the villages around Tikhvin.

I've been wanting an updated Gulf of Finland map for a long time and now this one will finally be it.

For sure we need some hands here. It might be a´good idea that you make the area above Finland, since you know it. Can you use autopo tool?  I can't, but i believe that Agracier can...We need to study that before we start to make populated map. I think that we will use default leningrad for the city itself. I will remove some irrelevant things like batbfire fenches and things like that that not can be seen from air...It will keep actors.static file smaller...
Agracier is busy with texturing right now.
If you have info about airfields of that area, it would be cool.
And... Welcome to Team International Brigade.
And.. If there is anyone who is familiar with Autopop tool - We are still recruiting...
We decited to have complitely different aproach to this map than earlier maps. We will upload it for public testing at very early stage, so users have opportunity to test it as soon as possible. But we need to put airfields to right place before we release the first canditate.

@Texan: I really liked your Caucasus map. I forgot to write that. The mountains are amazing. And great fun to fly on.

I think you meant for me to "make the area BELOW Finland". 
I would probably be best at adding towns and airfields  south and east of Leningrad which I know better.

I still do not know how to use auto-pop.  I add object by cut/paste method which is fairly easy and simple for me.
I just have to make a village template for a pattern and then transfer it to other village textures.

How will the airfields look?  Will there be new airfield textures? or will they be like Slovakia?
or Perhaps an edit of Khalkin Gol airfields to fit in with the different region?
The latter would be most interesting if agracier could edit the grassy parts.

I probably won't be able to start to help right away.  Might have to wait a couple weeks before I can really dig into it.
I'm really excited about this map!  I bet a lot of others are too.

LOL Did i really wrote above....??? I did! I meant BELOW!
Firstly, i would like to say that we are really proud that you are making this map with us. Agracier is making textures at the moment. And we need to finish that. You can use whatever populating method  you like. And same goes with airfields. I'm not sure about friction mod anymore because of all that 4.10 thing...I'm not even sure if i want to make this 4.10 compatible. But we wan't use only IL2 default buildings...we need to have more than that..We have nice set of textured objects in UP 2.01.

I'm also used to  just copy/paste method...  I will try to learn Autopop.  it is good for farms and small villages, i believe. Cities and Towns are best to make individually..
And you can start to work when ever you want.. I will send a link for map when texturing is done.
And you can always send PM to me or Agracier!
I'm really excited as well!!

I don't think I have the friction mod yet but I could get it if necessary - no problem.

I didn't plan on making anymore maps, at least for a while, but this will just be populating part of the map and nothing else so it'll be good for me.

If the map is working with 4.10 it is ok. And i'm sure that it will be after a while. We are still making textures...After that i will send the map to you

Just a small update. We are working to make textures right. I'm making villagetemplates for Autopop. Looking good with 4.10 too.!

I have managed to get this map working with 4.10 "patch" but i will not make it officilally for 4.10. This will be a 409m map.

Do I understand correctly? Your work will not get the DT to 4.11? They will not be in the 4.11-4.12?
