A-20DB-7 Boston MkII

The A20DB7 was originally built for the L'Armee de La Air and they received about 80, some of which saw action during the BOF, the remaining aircraft were then transfered to Vichy North Africa.

After the fall of France the order was transfered to the Uk and the RAF called it a 'Boston' and it saw widespred service, especially in North Africa (by particulary the SAAF.).


Differences

The DB7 had a much lower powered engine with a 'commercial'

Wright Cyclone1820 Series  SC3G  engine

In compensation the airframe was a fair bit lighter than the derivative A20C that was produced from the DB7.
Top speed and performance are much more appropriate for early war scenarios as a result. (although they were still being used in North Africa upto 1943).


Rear Turret

Only has 1 mG

3D Changes

Does not have permanent wing pylons and has a smaller tail section.

Congrats on this beauty. I yearn and I mean yearn for some more early war RAF bomber/attack aircraft. Can someone do a RAF skin for this? Please?
I resist the temptation to make a list but wonderful additions like this make it difficult.

I don't know if it is possible, but anyway I mention it: the actual DB-7 had no weapon bulges on her nose, because she used small caliber guns; could someone remove the bulges on the nose? Also the glass nose was slightly different from the A-20C, but really most welcome improvement would be 3D work on her nose to remove the gun bulges.

I should have added that all of the guns are .303 shouldn't I.

If a good 3D modeller would be prepared to remove the nose bulges it would be a great addition... we would love to include such an update.

This was known more commonly as a Douglas B7  but I used A20DB7 (although the prefix A20 was adopted afterwards) as it keeps it 'in the right family' so to speak.

Thank for the work! French Army used 7,5mm machine gun, very closed to 0.303 british ones.

And "Vive l'Armée de l'Air" (I was part of younger, during mymilitary duty!)
