I personally enjoy old radio shows very much. I have a
huge collection of those old radio broadcasts and music shows. Its very good entertainment and fun to listen to these old shows.

I often mix old radio news broadcasts with music from that era and play the CDs while I fly some mission in IL-2. It makes you feel like you´re really in that time period.

I will leave you with some other goodies you might also be interested to download and use for yourself. Have fun !

Scrool down to see lots more broadcasts from WW2

.......................................

As requested from pm... World War One and Third Reich radio

As for World War One radio broadcasts and music it is a little more difficult to just
Download one or more CDs containing what you actually want, and some of them are
also costly. Very rare to find music from this era, as music was just beginning to get recorded unto vinyl and other forms.
My suggestion is to search the internet for FREE Mp3 downloads and gather them up in a folder which you can later make a CD for them, or change them to other formats (like WAV) to be used in the IL-2 game for when you are flying n WW1 airplanes.

Even though in WW1 airplanes did not have “radios” and the pilots would not be listening to radio broadcasts or music, in IL-2 you can do it, so its up to you if you want to use these broadcasts.
I will leave you with some very useful links where to download for FREE some period music from that Era of the Great War.
- http://www.firstworldwar.com/audio/index.htm - Use the YEAR selection on the right side of the website to select music from that year. Very good website! With 1000+ songs ! It also has videos, news broadcasts and lyrics to the songs.

http://www.greatwar.nl/  - contains a large selection of free downloadable WW1 music and radio broadcasts. Check it out.
(Might have a pop-up publicity window but its harmless and you can delete it with no problem… these websites need publicity ads to continue making available free downloads)

Third Reich radio

This following website is a bit more radical and it deals with the Third Reich (Nazi Era) music, news broadcasts and other crazy stuff, so PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS A MUST IF YOU ARE UNDER 16 YEARS OLD ! I don´t want you guys and gals to get brainwashed because of this ideology, it is only for historical purposes.
I sometimes use some of these Reich songs to be overdubbed over American songs and Radio broadcasts with some radio static as if my IL-2 bomber crews and fighter pilots are flying over the English Channel and are picking up some German radio broadcasts over their radios. Meaning that they are getting closer to the enemy front.
It also sounds alright if you are flying in the IL-2 inside a Messerschmitt 109 and are listening to the same radio transmissions.

In this website you will also find Radio Broadcasts of Speeches by some very well known persons and also some extremely rare to find World War One German music and speeches also.

Someone asked me a while back if I could find some aerial photos of
WW2 Luftwaffe airfields for making realistic looking bases on IL-2 maps like
the Channel Map by CanonUk.

I have found these interesting pictures for you...
closeups - http://www.flickr.com/photos/24554019@N06/sets/72157623296582738/
full picture - http://www.flickr.com/photos/24554019@N06/sets/72157609636214338/

Lubeck was very important airbase.

Why was it important? , might you ask.
Because of these Luftwaffe "Treasures" for the allies  http://www.flickr.com/photos/johntrathome/4695126795/in/photostream/

as requested

Here is another great website related to "speeches" and radio broadcasts for those of you who
would like to use them with your musical mixes for some IL-2 movies or just record a CD for listening
to while on your missions...

http://www.freeinfosociety.com/media_index.php?cat=8&type=3

There is a very nice selection on this website, ranging from WW1 era, to WW2 era, to Korean war era, Cuban missile crisis and
all the way to present time.
