Checkyersix's Infantry + Mortar Mod v 1.02

This mod will add three new types of stationary artillery:

Mortar Team - a three man mortar team that will fire on targets up to 4000m away. They use invisible, smokeless rockets, so they have an arcing trajectory like a real mortar. They should be placed like an anti-tank gun, facing the target.

Dug In Infantry - A single infantryman up to his waist in the earth. Great for placing in trenches, foxholes, etc. Will rotate to face threats.

Prone Infantry - An Infantry Squad lying on their bellies. Will rotate to face threats.

Use them to create more realistic infantry battles. They look especially good at night, with all the muzzles flashing in the dark. They will not burn or explode when killed, but will simply disappear (they've been evacuated ;) ). Mortar crews will leave their mortars behind.

Update:

v 1.02

- Prone Infantry are now bunched into groups of five, to make them easier to see and hit. Their hitbox is much larger now as well.
- Mortar round now has reduced power.

v 1.01

- Increased hit box on prone infantry, as dug in infantry was shooting over their heads. Also lowered gun hook on dug in infantry so they shoot from closer to the ground. Dug In infantry should now be superior to prone infantry.

Hey Guys,

              This is a very interesting development. I'd just like to interject (given that the current in-game mortars seem to represent the family of what was classified as "Medium" mortars, that was in the range of 80 mm
(actually 76(3") to 82mm) that the range for the medium mortars is too long. I decided to comment when I saw the range of the mortars in the mod as 4000m.
This was beyond the range of this family of (the most common calibre) mortars.
British Stokes 3" Trench Mortar   2,560m
German Granat Werfer 34 81mm  2,400m
US M1 81mm Mortar                  3,290 yds (about 3,000m)
Russian BM41/43 82mm              3,100m
Japanese Type 99 81mm Mortar   3,280m (7 1/2 lb bomb)
                                             1,312m (14.3 lb bomb)

Just my 10 cents worth - I like most accuracy possible (realizing that everything is not always possible).

you can change the range in the technics.ini if you like. Can't remember where I got the 4000m range, I think from a Korean war source...

Great companion to your open trenches mod.

I find that the trench soldiers can hold off Ultra Pack infantry quite well.

there's hardly any point in posting a pic for this, if you look at the mortat object in your FMB objects list, that's what it looks like.
and the infantry, well, also the same infantry figures as with most of the other infantry mods...

A soldier with its knee on the gruound would be grate too put ehing sandbags, and fully standing soldiers too.
I just cant make Skippers ones work.

No I think that is another mod which I might have or that doesn't exist yet lols, this is the mod that gives you new infantry that shoot so you can act out trench warfare and Blitzkrieg epics.

BTW, who knows how to , or can teach me how to, to color the uniforms of soldiers for
the IL-2 game?
The reason is, we got a few new maps for World War One for IL-2 and we
need to have soldiers dressed up in the same colored uniforms that they had.
French in Greyish Blue, British in Brown, Germans in Greyish Green, Americans in Khaki brown/green.

If you had permission you could take the DLV infantry mod, and find the textures for uniforms etc in the folders for Germans, Russian soldiers and pilots etc.

just dig into the infantry folders, you'll find some "skin" .tgas of various resolutions for different LODs. Those represent the skins you'll need to modify.

I have THE SAS MODACTIVATOR v2.2 with the last buttons file.

Because if I create a folder called Stationary ,this mod works...but I haven't anymore others artillery pieces..

you need to add it to the existing stationary.ini file, otherwise you're just creating a blank one with just these three entries.

Check in the MODS folder for an STD folder. Somewhere in there should be a stationary.ini file for you to add the entries to.

Don´t worry, if and when I do this uniform changing to the guards or airport crews, I will
contact you guys to have permission and to test them first.  ;)

Ok downloaded and the game runs fine, all lines copied and pasted into their place as per the readme.
So what maps am I going to see infantry on? Just curious, havent seen any in the single missions yet...

CWMV, you misunderstand what this is for.

This is for the full mission builder. They are objects that have to be added by mission builders. They will appear in any mission in which the builder has put the time and effort into placing them. The will NOT magically appear by themselves in old or QMB missions.

Sorry...these are great...but I find them indestructible....
I've checked their data in the Technics.ini which has their Panzer as 0.001....??
Perhaps their hit box is too small.

Panzer 0,001 meant that their armour thickness is of 1mm....It have nothing to do with the collision box.

perhaps the performance of the rocket could be toned down too....they shouldn't be able to knock out tanks.

Wait though...it might be a problem with the MDS in 4.10... !!
if I play the mission in DF they show as destroyed but immediately respawn...although the setting is default 1800 secs...the same mission in Single mode and they are destroyed.
I haven't noticed that altering the number of rounds in the Technics.ini has any affect....they just carry on as if ammo was unlimited..... maybe MDS again..?!

Just trying to stop them ruining the battle by destroying everything...lol

They use basically the same rounds as the rocket trucks already in game, which is why their probably overly destructive. I've reduced the power but still need to test.

Just FYI, the "rounds" in the technics.ini only apply to moving vehicles. Stationary artillery are assumed to have an infinite supply of rounds.

Don't know why they're respawning so quickly, they should work like standard artillery...

Perhaps the answer to the damage would be to have them use the same round as a small gun from a small tank....Pzkfw II or something...since the present rockets have a flat trajectory anyway and also make rocket sounds....perhaps a simpler gun would give a better effect....don't know how do-able that is?

as I said the instant respawn only seems to happen with MDS DF missions and not Single ones. Since MDS is now an intergral part of 4.10 and there is no way to disable it as there was before, maybe a bug report need to go in.
I also noticed that ships do not seem to pay attention to the time-out function anymore either.

Update, check above.

Note, this update converts the prone infantry to a prone 5-man squad, the easier to hit and kill. This might make missions already built using prone infantry look a little strange.

I tried to use this online, on a dogfight server, but the mortar and the infantry gives a report as being destroyed several times, and they allways resurrects to keep the fighting. Marvelous soldiers indeed!  ;)

I was using the Zuti mod, so a lot of variables were added, but I really apreciated this mod, and now I am removing about 100 mortar positions and exchanging for whatever there is available to replace them with great regret.  :(

I still keep the original files with your mods on, if there is any simple solution I will really apreciate it.
