New Version  ;D

Here is the new version of my Vietnam-map. Screens and Install instructions are in the Readme.
Great WiP Projects like the MiG-21 or the A-4 Skyhawk let the Sky over North Vietnam sloly become crowded, and it will shurely be fun. Its a bit irking that the Dimensions of the Map don't allow US-Bases but most US-planes where carrier based, and Il-2 has the nice airstart feature. When the F-8 is out I will make a mini-campaign for the Pilots of the USS Hancock who fought against MiG-17's in the early operations over North-Vietnam.  :)

Remember that this is only the first release, I still work on the Citys (Factory areas eg.) It also has no streets or rails. If anyone has information about rails and streets in Northvietnam, please tell me :)

The Hanoi airfields are in the city. They should be out of it since they are military bases, I think.

It would be also good to have a US base further to the South where the USAF could operate against North Vietnam against.

I will make a campaign when we have the new jets for the Vietnam War era:-)

Ok. I know. the Airfields are wrong, I will correct it... But a US-Base can't be implemented. the Hanoi area ist to far in the North. Most of the Battles in North-Vietnam where Carrier-Based.

Hopefully we'll get some Vietnam-jets in 2011 :)...

I was thinking about future B-52s (ha ha) operating from the bases in the South as well as border states. Well, doesn't matter much, I think.

Well... We could make Air-Start with them... thats no problem. B-52's usually operated from Okinawa or Thailand :D I think such a map wouldnt be funny^^

Very nice Batbomb, Thanks for your work on bringing the map into the game. One can not help but to envision flying Arc light Missions in the BUFF or as most know it as the B-52 against targets in the north. Again nice job on the map.

Batbomb, theres is plenty of water not aligned with the Heigh.
Meaning that there is a lot of coast with water higher than 0 so it makes transparent land...
Any chance on revising that? It is a Lot of work, but maybe you cna use teh coast align tool with your original Map C and map H.

Found those in my main install-the map really has potential IMO.  :)
Very interisting area.

When I fly there next I will come up with a better screeny..had shot those to check skins etc..

I have a request for white-cat. Please... could you repaint my North-Vietnam map? I really hate the textures it has now... but you seem to be a god in texturing...

Moved this post from The Pacific thread, probably I'll release it apart if Batbomb wants it at all :) Very quick repaint proposal, so you guys can compare with the previous screens :) I don't like my alternative but it's the best I can provide for now, if you prefer it guys let me know.

  Oh, Daddy Likes!  To be honest thou, I thought most of the war was conducted from Thailand and as Batbomb mentioned, the carriers.  A base anywhere outside the west border of North Vietnam would be enough to conduct "Operations".  Of course there is no Thailand or Laos map, but I got a hell of an imagination...

Vietnam is known for its red clay dirt. You can see it in pictures of Khe Sahn or other firebases where the trees have been cleared.

I really wonder what objects you used. I have 4.101 with the latest mod activator. Before I installed Objects Mods for Activator http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12257.0.html neither your North Vietnam nor Mission_bug's South Vietnam worked properly. Having installed that Objects [I think all the objects outside the original games.] the South Vietnam map does work - I can save missions, but nothing has changed with North Vietnam where I still can not save anything. I think that the previous version of your map called Hanoi had better textures - now it looks like Europe I fear, but maybe am mistaken.

EDIT: OK, now I got it it. You forgot to write in readme what are the entries for the new flags - I think this is the last issue before running it smoothly.

Last summer agracier and I started a North Vietnam/Indochina/Viet Minh map.  He did the textures and I added the airfields, several in Vietnam, a couple in China, one in Laos.
map was supposed to be made for 1950s era with French involvement, fictional Viet Minh Air force, and Flying Tigers/14th air force during WW2.
Dien Bien Phu is included.

Hangars and buildings were added to some airfields.  hanoi's fields were built to replicate the real ones.
No other populating was done but it's ready to fly missions on.

With Batbomb's NV version here there may not be any interest in the one I described.  I have not looked at his to compare.  If anyone might be interested I could upload it or start a new thread.

CzechTexan, I would be very interested in your map, I'm in the process of updating my two Indochina campains to use some new modded aircraft that will bring new authenticity to the types flown so this would allow me to put the Lang Son incident in the Vichy campaign in the correct part of the world.  In the original campaign I had to use the edge of the Thailand map and use one of the test runways.  Do please start a seperate thread for the map you and Agracier started.

No its not. You can use it with 4.10 without problems. Im currently running it. But you need additional objects wich you can download on this side.
Btw. I repainted my map with Hankow and Chaco textures. Looks quite realist now ;)

Help, I can't save missions on this map . Tried same in Dark Blue World  1.1  and 401.1m  mod activator 3.06. I have no problems with the P.S south Vietnam map in either mentioned installs. Thanks any way your work is appreciated.... this map is a must have!

mhhh... it can only be, that there are objects on this map wich you don't have on your install. DBW 1.1 is a bit old. Try to get a more modern version ;)

Activate #DBW_MissionPro Combo by PAL with jsgme.
Then you need to create at least two missions with FMB in the Missions\QuickQMBPro\Vietnam_North folder called
Vietnam_NorthBlueNoneN00.mis and Vietnam_NorthRedNoneN00.mis.

Im trying to put it in to 4.12.1 but my game couldn't find the Map's 2D map so the only way is to install the original map.
Could you fix it?

Yyaayyy I fixed it. I had to put the rice tga from   Land/ps/rice,  ;D  lol   The rice tga's arent in    NV/BB/rice , you have to put them in your self. 8)

Where did you find that rice tex? In my place I changed the line of the load.ini with whitecat's rice fields.

And BTW, my ed_m02 is "identical" to the ed_m01, i.e. there are no cities painted only the geographical map. Do you see the same?

That is an issue with the load.ini.
Either the map is in the wrong folder, or the game cannot read the load.ini or the all.ini entry is wrong or the map has no load.ini entry.

Hi! I've been looking for the moddified Bat bomb map from 51st, by 51stfis_FC. He seems to be inactive here and in il2 free modding community. This map, got really good SAM positions, anyone still got it in the HDD?

I installed this map of Riptide_One version on my Pre-DBW2, 4.12.2m.

Great!
Breautiful and real Vietnam.
Airbases are useful with 2000m long runways.
I can fly on MiG-21 or Tu-95 easily.

 Problem solved: missing objects in BB_North_Vietnam_51st.
 

I had to re-do my 412.2m game with back-ups, after removing Windows 10 from my system.
My BB NVN 51_st map however did not diplay the Sam sites and other objects.
Upon checking my older hard drives, I found that the only ojects not loaded in my new 3do files were :
 1. Mod LAL_Fortification, and  2. MODS for Khalkin-gol. Now all Sam sites show on the map.
The above mentioned mods contain numerous building and objects. Now to re-do some missions for
a grat map.  Also if you installed your older texture files in the Tex_ folder, continue to do so. If you rename the folder to just ( tex ) your game will not locate the files needed for the maps and you will get java errors. I tried it both ways and only (  tex_ ) underscored version works for me.
