Title: USAAF Personnel for american base
Post by: stanislao on March 24, 2022, 09:20:28 AM
;D    Considering the appreciation found for the two groups of characters recently published and the result of a graphic reworking of characters that had been imported long ago by Dimon, here is a roundup of subjects suitable for a scenography for a USAAF base. With pilots, ground crew and female auxiliaries ... Have fun!

:(  Ciao erafitti,  That's right ... unfortunately the import of the models happened without shadows
):D,    Mick tried, but the construction of the shadows on the characters is quite different from the method used for the planes and therefore he gave up!      ::(

No have shade.
Have you ever seen shadows in Dimon's work?
Objects have several "materials".
Making shadows using only a text editor can therefore cause some weirdness:
- blinking shadows
- missing shadow zones...

The most reliable solution is therefore to make them with 3dsMax, GMax or other graphic editors!

... yep, I can confirm, I tried but to no avail ...  :-X

My shadow teacher, Epervier, taught me the text editor method, which is very time consuming and not fun at all (I don't have a 3D program), especially when a mesh has several "Materials", and I succesfully added lots of missing shadows to Dimon's AC for ex ...  ;)

... but here I failed ...  :-[

... you can see the "result" here ...  :-X

But, hell, even without shadows, I much prefer these ...!  8)

:D   Erafitti, if you then feel like putting your hand to the shadows of these characters, I swear I am not offended!    ;)

Hello guys, for those interested in shadows I have posted a tutorial for you. ;)

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,68657.0.html

As Gabriel told you it is necessary to alter the figure so it only uses one texture, my tutorial shows how that is done,
however, this will double the size of the polygon count as you will use the existing model for the shadow but if you are
unable to make a new 3d shadow then what I posted is a way for those interested and who can manage the high polygons:

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

;D   Thanks Pete, unfortunately in 3D I am a goat, I downloaded the tutorial and I will try to understand how it works, certainly doubling the Poly is a great load to bear, it is also true that the shadows give a lot of realism to the images .. Thanks.     8)

P.S.  The tutorial is really well done!

Hello guys, for those interested in shadows I have posted a tutorial for you.
Thanks Pete !
It is much more complicated to do under GMax!  o_O
In 3dsMax it's easier... but will also give "very heavy" objects!
It is possible to reduce the number of vertices and faces but you risk altering the quality of the objects... alas!
