You need to have a working, clean BAT v4.2 Flashpoint

How do I install an update?

1. download all the files into one folder (make sure, this place is on your windows defender exception list!)
2. deactivate all JSGME Mods for safety
3. run the installer exe and direct the extraction into your BAT install
4. enjoy

Note:
-this update will install a new set of .ini files! Any changes you made to air.ini, stationary.ini... etc. will be overwritten.
-his update does NOT delete any folders![/color]

Bf-110A0 and B1   BAT exclusive

In 1937, the first pre-series run of the Bf-110A was powered by the Jumo210 as an interim solution and had a two blade propeller. It proved to be underpowered. The first B series run still had the Jumos since the DB601 wasn't availble yet, so almost a hundred were built and delivered to training units.

This is based on a very old mod by Riken (aka Bf-110B4) which had suffered form a few functional issues I could iron out now. I added Jumo-style chin coolers and divided the versions with new FMs. This is a for fun pre-war mod.
- cooler parts are not skinnable but work with vpmedia Bf-110 skins.
- early style cockpit, including gunner station
- new FM
- A0: 4x 7.7mm;  B1 4x 7.7mm + 2x 20mm

reintroduction of the Me-262 V3 1942 tail sitter

The four tail-sitter prototypes had a differently placed main gear. The old mod didn't change this and was standing at too steep an angle with a CoG problem. I moved the gear forward to it's proper position so this fun mod can now perform its only real trick to satisfaction: take off and landing in a tail wheel jet.
Therefore I simply closed up the underbelly, this mod has no more visible wheel wells and comes as-is for fun.

A couple of fixes and adjustments have come up and I would like to present a third Hotfix Pack, which brings it all to you.
Unless indicated, the fixes are usually my own.

BAT 4.2.1 Hotfix Patch 03 20220304:

Looks promising !

I saw that, for installation, it does not delete any folder, but overwrite them.

If I have added some mods... maybe is it better to install it in a temporary folder, so I can check what I must delete, eventually add some mods, and after, copy-paste in the game... am I right ???

Much appreciate your continued work on updating this great sim, which gives we mortal campaign and mission builders more to work on for the benefit of players. The improvement of cockpits, scenery, explosions, etc add so much to the immersion factor so a pat on the back to all.

A bit OCD, but that is why I have my .ini files for each era in a jgsme switchable folder. I then add things one at a time, test the switched version, and if something is wrong deactivate and  adjust until it works. Takes a while (I currently have 19 mods which require .ini adjustments), but at least the base game remains unaffected.

if you mess with ini files, you need a backup, and this is the the way to do it.

I also strongly suggest using the original STD/com/.... folder path in your JSGME package as well, so you always only have one (1!) set of ini files active in your era folder. Never have several ini of the same kind in one era folder. You are bound to mess up because you forget what's what. Trust me on this.

For good measures, get a file comparison tool, like WinMerge.

thanks to all involved! great stuff here and a wonderful electronic christmas present! this after version 1.2 of the Tie Fighter Total Conversion Mod came out yesterday - now its a tough choice what to play with during the holidays :D
guess my time will be evenly spent between flying in the HTA section in the USS Macon and the piloting Tie Fighters for Lord Vader :D :D :D

I've just recently found out by checking some of my folders that I have those backup ini folders but some are months old. For my older ship ini that is from August 22nd 2021.

I've tried on replacing the ship.ini with the older version and it was 60% for more than 10 seconds until it crashed, and I thought I just had it oh well..   :-[

Is there like any other way such as a working ship.ini or do I have to do those other following steps which I feel confused about? But I may eventually get the hand of it maybe..

well, to answer your question in a short way: if you have modded an older version of BAT, adding stuff to ini files, as soon as you copy over a new version of BAT with those additional thingies in the BAT module folders, all hell will break loose and your game will crash, either at 60% (air.ini) or at 70% (ship, objects, stationary.ini)
so if you want to have a current version of BAT - AND - additional stuff, you need to apply all those ini changes for the stuff you want to add to BAT again!!!
a crash at 60% points towards missing entries (or missing classfiles) for aircraft though; it can be of course that your game loaded up to 60%, even finishing loading aircraft  and as soon as it tried to initialize other stuff like ships, objects etc where there are classfiles but no ini entries, it crashes (at 70%), the crash happening so fast that you do not even see the 70% load indicator...

so in a nutshell, if you want to add aircraft, ships, objects to BAT , you have to add the respective ini entries....
if you have more specific questions, please open a thread in the tech help section though, this is the release thread and it should not be filled with tech questions and problems that do not come from the installer itself, as this works as advertised....

I seem to have a problem with the download process... ( and the only one by the look of it  ::( )
Download from MediaFire is no problem but for the life of me I cannot extract the folder  BAT00
The rest of the folders are absolutely fine but not BAT00
I attempt to extract but  1. data error :BAT00\XUPMOD23.SFS  is being flagged up
I've opened BAT00 and have found I can extract XUPMOD25.SFS individually
It appears to be XUPMOD23.SFS that is generating the resultant 1. data error :BAT00\XUPMOD23.SFS warning box
I can't remember having such a problem before
I've downloaded the update now five times and am still stuck at this point........ hmmm

Any ideas ?

And yet, 20% crashes are almost always java reference issues....  You most likely have a mod that clashes. Which one? Well...

Did you try a "reset" in the QMB?

But before that, make sure you have the BATDLLS-03_BAT-4096  in place and not some other ones.  (They come as BAT stock for some time now but there's the chance you replaced them for whatever reason and forgot about it and now you look at a) pink Eldritch horror and b) get a CTD when trying to fly a high-poly plane in QMB)

The "average B.A.T user" either installs this on a clean 4.2 and simply has fun, or, if they are not-so-average and mod their BAT, they better have their sh*t together and know what they are doing.

Sorry, mate. You are absolutely correct. I shouldn't have posted that. Actually I was not asking for help as there is no problem with the update or the installer. Something is wrong here, I have screwed something up. I was just frustrated as I have a problem I'd like to solve, but because of lack of time I have to postpone solving the problem.

I would never accuse you of messing me up.
If anything, I might spoil it myself. The thing is, I don't change the downloaded B.A.T. because I don't know anything about it.
At most I'll add some aircraft. Of course I have BATDLLS-03_BAT-4096. Maybe what I described is related to the fact that I recently changed my monitor ( from 60 Hz illumination to 144 Hz)
As for the behavior of the planes, I don't want to elaborate here, but e.g. in DOF the Fokker Dr.I, after being hit by anti-aircraft artillery, burns in the air for 10 minutes while rising, and you have to kill it because otherwise it won't fall to the ground.
 In JTW, MiG-23 if we take off from an aircraft carrier, the cockpit does not close for the wingman and the whole flight takes place with the cockpit fairing open; if we take off from an airfield, everything is ok.
I did not notice anything pink in my B.A.T.
Sometimes I get pink thoughts when I look at my attractive  neighbors, women. ]laughing9[

Thanks for the update. Everything runs smoothly and all was so very easy. Thanks for making things so painless. Much easier than my other sim, CFS3. Like both but IL-2 '46 BAT is a stupendous work and offers the most content of any sim out there. Thanks for the joy all the wonderful modders bring us in a simple to install package ! A quick test shows that the MiG-23 carrier bug does exist. However two questions spring to mind:

1. Is this actually a BAT issue, or a problem with the original aircraft mod?

2. How many Floggers ever flew, or were designed to fly, from an aircraft carrier? (I think we all know the answer to that one).  :)

I wrote that it crashes my game when I turn on the map in QMB.
That was the cause ( in the picture). I removed it and all maps open without problems, in QMB and FMB.
As if I had dropped the graphics quality but slightly. I can also see the sky in the rear view mirror.

I'm always late to the party, but this time it's a bit extreme, I know. There hasn't been much room in my for IL-2 this strange year, due to RL stuff, but I zoom by now and then, and notice that everything is running as briskly as ever, the BAT universe continuing not just to live on, but expand! Not that I am too surprised, as I well know what an amount of talent that is at work here.

These latest updates are GREAT!!! Works like a charm!!!

BTW, the problem I was experiencing earlier seems to be some sort of a strange corrupted download problem. I downloaded the files twice to two different locations. Trying to use either one of those two resulted CTD at 20 %. Downloaded third time using another computer, then copied the files over to the gaming computer (in a third location) and run the installer. Works fine.

Reverted back to 4.2. Tested again updating from all the three files. Only the latest works.  All files are same size o_O

As long as you've installed the 4.1 update inbetween 4.0 and 4.2, the MiGs 15, 17, and 19 are already in BAT. You need to switch the era in the selector.

In the selector, click change settings

-WAW: several US external tank capacities increased to better match volume indicated.

Nothing has changed for the P-51 D-5. There is not enough fuel in the tanks for the historical range.
The total weight of the aircraft has not changed either, which means that the problem with the tanks continues to exist.

Here's what's what.

The P-51 D5 uses the class "FuelTankGun_Tank75gal2"
This version of the 75 gal tank (there are more than one, it happens over the years... decades)  comes at a weight value of 205 kg worth of fuel. This is a correct amount, this is what 75gal gasoline weigh, give/take.

This class indeed was among those reworked. Previously, as stated before, it only contained 156 kg of fuel. So it is increased by ~ 50kg of fuel, per tank.

What is not taken into account is any other inconsistency regarding the engine or your in flight settings. Is your bird a terrible guzzler?
Anyway, the amount of fuel provided is as good as it can be though. Sorry, that's about what I can do.

About historical range in the game.
The game has severe limitations. It gets fuzzy when you really try to build 12 hour round trips or some such. There aren't even maps big enough.  AI can go from Iwo Jima to Japan, fight the baddies, and back on their own terrible patterns on the B-29 alley map in my test mission. To me, that's about as good as the game needs to be really. If you want to enter this any further, you need to go into the java and the engine data and for all birds concerned.

I made measurements under the same conditions before and after the patch. The altitude was 5500, the speed was 350 km per hour. And as in the previous patch, I flew the same distance.
The fact is that thanks to the NG-Hoоd mod, I noted a weight discrepancy. The instructions for the P-51 accurately indicate the weight that should be with tanks and just with a full load of fuel without tanks.
Pay attention when you take 100 percent of fuel without tanks just at the airfield you have one weight, when you take off with tanks another, and when you drop them the third.
Perhaps it is worth setting up the P-51. I do not insist on complete historicity, but it can give it the opportunity to fly at least 800 km with hanging tanks.

Here's an interesting thing. I measured that 1% of the fuel is 7 kg of aircraft weight. At the same time, this equates to ~17 km of the distance you fly with 1% of your fuel. 100 * 17 and you get 1700. This is quite historical. With your modifications, 410 liters is 57 percent of the fuel if 410 kg is divided by 7. 57 times 17. It turns out that you need to fly 969 km. However, plus or minus climb and so on, let's say it will be 890 km.
Build such a route and try to fly it using only external fuel tanks. I will be interested in your observations.

sorry if this isnt the place to ask, i couldnt find a thread that it seemed to fit in. When playing DOF how to i turn off the Airspeed, Altitude, and Heading numbers in the bottom left of the screen? i set the game to Realistic difficulty and they still show up.

Thank you both bomberkiller and vampire_pilot. that key did not work for me but i did find the toggle speed bar setting and got it to work

Vampire_pilot usually takes care of these things right? But he hasn't posted in months and is no longer part of the SAS team, so idk when and by who BAT will receive these new mods.

First of all, I hope Vampire pilot  were safe and well.
He has been focal for my first mod and I will be always grateful.

BAT gets regular updates, and our BAT modding team places what is new and worthy into the
updates.

There were a few maps that were released recently as well as a few planes. Also, who will be updating BAT since Vampire_pilot apparently isn't in the picture?
