NEW UPDATE   BAT v4.1.3


BAT 4.1.3 Update

A smaller update only in file size as it brings you two of the biggest machines yet to fly in the Il-2 skies: the B-36 Peacemaker and the Avro Vulcan heavy bombers! 

Many updates, fixes and enhancements are constantly enhancing the package. Mace's latest Beartrap pacakge contains several new interesting gameplay features.
And let me particularly point out the great variety of WxTechs awesome cockpit update mods. The place where we spend our free time gets better and better.

But there's some more, much more!
SAS~Monty27 is back and he has a bag full of awesome content: missions, missions, missions... Look out for his all new "BAT remastered" posts, coming up soon :)

How do I install an update?

1. download the file into a new folder
2. deactivate all JSGME Mods for safety
3. run the exe and extract into your BAT install
4. enjoy

note: A new set of .ini files will usually be delivered. So any changes you may have made yourself previously will get deleted.

-Zeppelins Auto Helmsman update

You can now order the helmsman to keep altitude or keep a heading by using misc #1 and #2 keys.
The automatic heading is very helpful to manage long climbs and long patrols.

Zeppelins also have slightly altered ground position, which makes "take-off" situations possible without crashing a propeller.

These modifications are available in all modules that hold Zeppelins.

The B-36 "Peacemaker" is a strategic bomber built by Convair (Consolidated and Vultee) and operated by the USAF from 1949 to 1959. The B-36 is the largest mass-produced piston-engined aircraft ever built. It had the longest wingspan of any combat aircraft ever built, at 230 ft (70.1 m). The B-36 was the first bomber capable of delivering any of the nuclear weapons in the U.S. arsenal from inside its four bomb bays without aircraft modifications. With a range of 10,000 mi (16,000 km) and a maximum payload of 87,200 lb (39,600 kg), the B-36 was capable of intercontinental flight without refueling. B-45 updates and family expansion:

The good old "JetBomber" gets company by some of BisonM's 3d variations in their own slot. But with a twist: I modified the cockpits to appear more bomber-like and cleaned of fighter material, updated the FM with corrected engine data and modified the skin graphics (It is a "Franklenplane", it is not completely skinnable by regular means!)

Hi thanks for another expansion. I only have no cockpits for the early il-2's, this was also when I tried it out in 4.12. Adding the 'Opening canopies' mod gave me the cockpits but no gunsight. Any suggestions? (PS no other mod than Opening canopies in #WAW3 this time, logfile gives: WARNING: ****( Unexpected txr reload (tfNoCompress16Bit,tfCompressMajorAlpha): '3DO/Cockpit/Il-2-1940Early/asd2.tga')

I retraced the problem and decided to remove the Il-2 cockpit update because of the compatibility problem.

please download the "v2" version of the update and simply install again.

No other engine mod is compatible inside BAT. There will be loss of functions.

No Gaston :) you install over your existing version of BAT provided you are patched up to 4.1.2 standard!
This cannot be stressed enough! You need a working 4.1.2 install as a base and don't remove anything from it before applying the new update...!

The only (or at least the obvious) thing I'm missing is the expanded range of virtual head movement.

I would say this has to do with the way some (many) mods share parts with or borrow parts from other mods in BAT. A butterfly effect if you like. Consequences you couldn't foresee, WxTech.

Hi Andy,

I just finished adding all my mods based on v1 of the update (mostly ships and aircraft), which involves changes to a lot of .ini files in the era folders. So rather than start all over again (a whole evening's work) I extracted v2 to a temp folder, then just manually  copied the BAT00 through BAT04B folders across. I seem to have working il2 cockpits. Is that all I need to do, or should I also copy the WAW3 'classes' folders as well?

I added these cockpits utilising JSGME post patching to 4.13 WxTech (with and without the open canopys classfiles and.......)

I can confirm they are not working in my Redcore either - most open with no cockpit view and over the sea? The Il2M seems to work but has no gunsight?

Thanks for info ! So, I guess it is better I install the pack in a temp folder, then make correction on a few ini and properties files (have added some planes and maps mods...) before copying all in the game... am I right ?

Yes, that's always the best strategy...have to do that myself too as I am using two heavily modded modules mainly...
Depending on the module you need to adapt, it's fairly straight forward and can be done in a few minutes...
My modded modules area based on WAW3 and it took only about 5 minutes to adapt the few ini and property files before copying all over and have them running on 4.1.3

This is fantastic! I never thought that I could sit in B-36 cockpit, not to mention Vulcan. I can try Me 264 with almost any thinkable loadout. And how the Hs 126 was improved, she’s a pure beauty! Many thanks to all involved 😊

Problem !?

Bombs won't to explode in contact with land - any plane with 'classic' bombs.

(same with my well modded custom installation ?)

Maybe engine mod patch causing problem?

Same issue in BAT and in my custom installation.

I try to remove all my latest updates, one by one, Vulcan, B36, ModernWarfare1126 , Grass, etc....

bombs won't to explode.

Only Engine mod left. I'l will test it tomorrow...

I have same issue in latest BAT and in my latest custom-modded game.

In previous custom version (other PC), without Vulcan, B36, engine fix,... bombs are working normaly

Incredible! It keeps going on, does it not? Congrats for all who worked on it. A tremendous achievement…

As the "Project Beartrap" catched my attention because I find the F7F a remarkable plane, I discovered something...
But... maybe it was only in my install.   :angel:

I noticed in FMB it was not possible to put the Early Warning Radar (160 km range sending hostile aircraft alerts), the Target Acquisition Radar (50 km with tracking radar) , the Influence Mine (sea or land) and the Landing Assistance (carriers or arrestor traps) on any map because they were invisible in "Stationary Ships".
The stationary.ini in the #JTW3 folder revealed the absence of the following lines in the StationaryShips section.

InfluenceMine     ships.P85Ship$InfluenceMine     1
LSOforAny     ships.P85Ship$LSOforAny     1
RadarDipole     ships.P85Ship$RadarDipole     1
RadarParabolic     ships.P85Ship$RadarParabolic     1

After putting this lines in, everything was OK!
I copied them from Mace's original "Project Beartrap" download.  ;)

The use of the Landing Assistance is not noticeably clear to me as I discovered Arrestor Trap and Catapult Trap look "more complete".

Anyhow, I hope this can be off use for others who notice the same "issue". A glitch like that is not the end of the world after all...  ;) ;)
Whatsoever: this is a magnificent update and really… the Peacemaker! Come on! What a joy that is!
By the way, I also discovered why I could not taxi the Vulcan properly… a change in my HOTAS settings did the trick…  :)

Yeah thanks mate. Its so good to be back! Although I charge in like a bull in the old china shop occasionally... The fact is we have an excellent BAT Team in place and owe them a great debt of gratitude for taking up from where I left off. Now I am re-joining them! After a long absence I'm going to be able to help out again and we have some BIG IDEAS to develop as well. REALLY looking forward to the next update and I can certify that there are some wonderful new projects in the pipeline. I don't keep things in the pipeline for long either... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Got a potential issue with the B-36.

When AI fighters target its engines, they always seem to undershoot them. Is this just the AI being stupid or an actual issue with where the AI thinks the engines are?

We've been testing this a lot and a few hundred B-36s got shot out of the skies by MiG-15 during testing.
Whatever you guys think you have seen, if you or your AI don't manage to kill this beast, try again.

Unfortunately I left modding for real life stuffs, however I continue to follow you and download your works!

I wanted to report a bug.

The B-52D in BAT is strangely slow, struggling to approach 650kph TAS. Installing the own B-52 mod folder in the # JTW3 folder the problem disappears.

Maybe some conflict or corrupted file?

At one point in the far past, there was an FM update of some sort by JackS. I haven't touched it since then.
Is it just the FM? Could it be excessive drag form your load out choice? The external loadouts produce quite some drag.

I will double check that with JackS. As you know, he used to fly them and if he hands me an FM for the BUFF, I'd usually trust the matter without questions.
I found the old email where he sent it to me in 2018. He said he sent it to you as well.

I checked the files and the FM in BAT is indeed the one Jack made. He made only very few adjustments and very specifically cut the speed by adding significant drag!
Besides, he only corrected a few values in the gear segment to make landing a breeze.

I appear to be having an issue with the Ivy King B-36 Single Mission where it will either show an error message when trying to start the mission saying there is a Landscape 'BA_Marshall_Islands/load.ini' loading error, or it will get to around 20-23% of the load and crash the game
Bit of a noob with the whole BAT things so I'm unsure what's going on.

The Ju 88G6 has an incorrect loadout for its gun pod. Its listed as 1xMg151/20 2xMG17 and 1x MGFF when it should be 4xMg 151(20)s.
