The Potez-CAMS 141 was to be the main representative of new generation of French seaplanes, replacing the Bizerte and other aircraft developed in accordance to 1930 requirements. Hevaily armed, with a crew of 9 to 12 men. only 1 sample, named "Antares" was in service in May-June 1940 and went to serve under Vichy (downing a British Swordfish) and under the Free French (sinking a German submarine, the only French built aircraft having done so - though there is recent evidence tending to indicate that an antiquated Late 290 also did so in September 1939, a few days after the outbreak of ww2). The CAMS also served as a flying benchmark for the Aeronavale. testing various armaments developed and tested on ground before June 1940 but not in flight, such as a quadruple gun turret developed in collaboration with Boulton Paul and a 25mm cannon - in service it was soon re-armed standard equipment of 5 single Darne machine guns.
This mod shows it in early and late configuration (= after its nose was rebuilt)
The "Open Cockpit" command will open the gun positions hatches and move the gunners in position, as well as popping up the rear lateral position's machine guns.
You'll need my new French bomb pack for this plane

What remains to be done:
2) add the D1, D2 and CAP files in the hier.him

Air.ini addition:
CAMS_141_1939 air.CAMS141 1 NOINFO f01 SUMMER
CAMS_141_1941 air.CAMS141bis 1 NOINFO f01 SUMMER
Feel free to finalize and upgrade this plane where needed.
Enjoy
The plane has been tested in 4.122 modact 5.30, so will probably run smoothly also in BAT

Crikey !
I'd no idea that the French were quite so AQUATIC ;D
Marvellous work DreamK. Thankyou
Cheers

-
Thank you, DreamK.
A single protoype, but yet an interesting design and record. Thank you again for this and many other planes and flying boats.
Cheers,
-
Not a prototype but the first produced aircraft of a series of 4 , production interrupted by the French defeat in June 1940.
-
DreamK,
Interesting ... was there another prototype, was there only one flying CAMS 141 (the Antares)? Did it enter service in September 1939 as stated in Wikipedia?
By the way, thank you for the latest series of seaplanes and flying boats - very rare entities to see in any sim.
Cheers,
-
And still they come! Thank you for all these rarities.
-
Cool.
-
I've got this elegant bird working OK, but after many trial combinations of skin file names I can't get the game to see them. Can somebody tell me the correct name for the skins folder?
Thanks, Gil

First part of the air.ini, for instance, CAMS_141_1939 ;)

CAMS 141 not work in my BAT 4.1, all others french plane works fine in my BAT ( Sorry for my English )::( ::( ::(
-
Me too - all other aircraft in these missions operate correctly - just the CAMS do not work .
Best wishes

post your log....

In BAT 4.1.1 you get the Screen Arming Menu/QMB freeze that is related to high poly
content.
In my custom BAT with high poly DLL I can have it without instant freeze/ctd.
My custom BAT has SFS content packed, in order to get you a clean BAT version LOg, let me install it
and deliver you here

this how a clean BAT looks in QMB Armament screen when freezing, you can only force to
shut down in Task Manger, as game doesn't reacts.

Tobias, the meshes that are listed in your log have no relation with the CAMS141 or its weapons - can you post all the log?
-
Okay, the Log is indeed a Mystery.
reversed the state of my Clean Backup, now it get's weirdo, I found the Default conf.ini
in that clean Install BAT is the culprit for the Bug to show up.
Evidence I found it changed my Monitor aspect ratio, changed the conf.ini with that of my Custom Install BAT,
with Conf.ini all is fine.
It must be a conf.ini Setting causing, I can't help, as I reluctantly tweaked it in recent time.
When the Mod was released the setting was similar to that in my Default/clean BAT, hence the Bug and
I didn't used it until Today, when I came back to see what's up.
I can't be sadly more specific, but somewhere in between these two Conf.inis is the truth,
here they are both uploaded to investigate.

I strongly assume it's a Display or Graphics Driver issue, when you take the buggy conf.ini, the screen is like this

Proof of concept BAT 4.1 with conf.ini OK????

(https://i.postimg.cc/2SDdHQW7/2021-01-31-00-06-28.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/1fvNXNJ8)
That's a strange issue, have not the slightest clue
-
Hi Tobi
I suggest not using any QMB to test this then.
Tobias, the meshes that are listed in your log have no relation with the CAMS141 or its weapons - can you post all the log?
You never know what else is loaded in a given QMB that might or might cause issues because of some 3rd party mod you any have.
I suggest a simple stock map and the plane in question and nothing else from FMB. That gives you the cleanest view on the plane you want to investigate. I have learned that as well....
-
I made my stuff to offer you the Tools to recreate, Log, 2 conf.inis, Mission complete, now it's up to you...
Best wishes
Tobias
-
I think that The most obvious thing that could influence these results are
1) in your open GL section in the conf.ini OK your graphic card is defined as 17
in your uncorrect conf ini the card is defined as 3
2) the correct conf ini functions with a resolution of 1920x1080, while in the buggy one the definition is 1600x1200 - this kind of thing has given me a lot of troubles in the past, it seems the game does not tolerate but a selected number of resolutions and the list appearing in the screen of il2setup.exe is quite misleading.
-
Thanks for your Help, the corrected conf.ini solves the issues, no trouble here
Best wishes
Tobias
