Title: Dornier Do-18
Post by: Zflyer48 on November 18, 2018, 05:39:45 PM
Something I started yesterday. I will be working on it over the winter monthes.
Got to have something for the Fleet Arm to shoot at in the early years.

Great choice. I am very grateful to you for giving us this plane. My father had a book he bought in 1941 showing one of these sinking (after being strafed, I think). When I saw it as a small boy I couldn't figure out how an aircraft with two engines facing in opposite directions ever went anywhere. Anyway, this Dornier is dear to my heart.

Had to redo because I goofed scale, again. A few more details added. A little reshaping. More small details to work on.

Looks beautiful! Seems that Dornier liked that engine/wing arrangement, isn't it?

;DIt seems to me to be a good point of development .. little suggestion, in my opinion you should lower a lot the position of the front machine gunner .. it should only emerge the head or a little more, in accord with the photos of that time. The half-gunner outside de nacelle is only good for Great War planes. ;)

Checking out my mapping after the He115 mess-up.
Should have Beta in a week or so.

Hi Zflyer48

Works ok. in BAT. The back gunner is a little bit lazy but shoots anyway.
Thank you very much for sharing and hard work!

I am having problems getting my mod to work in DBW. Though, I see,  Bwf has it working in his DBW. So, I have to get the bugs worked out in mine
before I feel confident about a 4110 version release.

How loaded up is your DBW folder, mine has just a few new mods in it,might
be a mod conflict. Hope you get it sorted out and Thanks again for the Do-18!
Bwf.

herbarnold99,
Nice skin,Thanks!

Thank you for the nice plane. Works fine in  4.12.2 plus MA 5.3.
I did notice when I loaded bombs they only show on the right wind.... They also don't fall.. Can't drop them.....LOL

From: <Gunny>
"I did notice when I loaded bombs they only show on the right wind.... They also don't fall.. Can't drop them.....LOL"

From my tech notes (which I failed to include) the Do 18 only had bomb racks for two bombs on the right side.
As for the release of said bombs, I have checked on two different flights since your post-mine release. May I suggest you check trigger
select button. Mod is set for #3.

On another note. Can anyone else comfirm it works in DBW as Bwf has stated it does.

Best Regards
Mike - Zflyer48

Gunny,
Must be a 412 problem, they work in my DBW1.71 install:

My DBW1.71 QMB Panel:

Cheers,

Note:
I used Cirx's 'Stock 4.07m to DBW 1.71 SuperPack One-Stop Download & Install'
(parts 01-019) for my install.

Hello,

Which scale use for your creations

There exists another Seaplane Dornier which has the same engine nacelles. Dornier D26

But your Do18 is already superb.

Do-26 is one of the most beautiful seaplanes of all time, and quite ahead of its time...

Can I ask how for from a full release outside the WIP this mod already is?

Or is it abandoned at this state "as-is"?  I am not clear on the intention.

:)  Zflyer's problem is that while being a fantastic new aircraft modeler, he can not control all the modeling implications, he should build a team where everyone develops a specific feature and all together control the applications, considering that Zflyer, I thinks it acts alone doing a huge job that I greatly appreciate! We all know that almost all the new models, proposed here, are partially or totally cloned from other games ... and this does not diminish the great work of adaptation and adjustments! In my small contribution I try to help Zflyer's work, I think he needs more collaboration ... ;)
