Extract to your game folder, select 'Jetwar' in il2selector.exe. Activate skinpack with JSGME.
Requires 4.12 & VPmodpack. It does not modify vpmodpack, the only file being overwritten is the il2fb.ini (selector options).
Compressed size is 3250Mb, extracted is 17114Mb.

Features:
- mostly Korea and Vietnam era aircraft (list: https://i.imgur.com/MT6xpJy.jpg )
- QMB missions for Korea and Vietnam and few US campaigns
- map repaints for Korea and Vietnam maps
- moving infantry, modern trucks and tanks
- based on VPmodpack, but its a separate pack which does not modify the ww2 part
- 1000 aircraft and pilot textures
- lots of aircraft texture updates

The pack is still WIP, some planes have problems I could not fix. Please report bugs with a logfile (conf.ini, LOG=1).

Thanks to everybody who was involved in the creation of these jet mods which are a great addition to IL-2.

This looks to be a marvelous addition to the original modpack
Downloaded and extracted perfectly
On a cursory test everything works well.....really love the new map textures  :-*

I can't wait for a torrent of this mod's final version.

Just tried downloading the beta, but thanks to my home's shoddy connection, looks like the package got roughed up on the way out. At least torrents keep the data intact while downloading, even with connection bumps in the way.

Does anyone know how to turn on the jets radar display? I've set the appropriate key commands for the radar settings but nothing brings up the screen.

Thanks for the comments. I've put this in the WIP section because there are some bugs where I could use a java coders advice/help. These problems only affect a few planes and helicopters. I'll make a list tomorrow.

If I remember correctly, you stated a few time ago that there won't be anymore addition to your pack, and that you'll stay WW2 focused, so it's a great surprise!

I had not very much time to test it, so I'm not sure about this one, but, I feel there is a problem with the Korea map. I tried to play an old DCG campaign, designed for DBW (and those campaigns, designed for DBW are usually working well in your ModPack), unfortunatly, all planes exploded at the start of the mission. Same for all other static campaigns/single missions I tried, and even on few occasion with the QMB, where my chopper spawned beside a carrier. The only missions that worked on this map, at least for me, was the ones you included yourself, with airstarts.
Again, I'm really not sure about that, but I feel it is the same kind of problem we had once with your "WW2" modpack, with the Salomons map (reply #1503 of your modpack discussion) caused by the actorstatic files. Indeed, the exploded planes donnot lies on the runway, but a little bit out of it.
But perhaps it's just a compatibility problem with the campaign/missions, I donnot know.

The pack is great and I've been really enjoying it, but when I got to the first Jet mission in the Vietnam campaign (with the F4E I think) the jet was stuck in the ground and the mission wouldn't work. The Hot Honchos campaign didn't seem to work for me at all. Not sure if I did something wrong, everything else seemed to be functional but I didn't try every mission that game with the game. Also I ahd to rename the briefings that came with the missions to be able to see them.

It's the matter of how you design a jet pack, I cut out the german and japanese and some other planes from air.ini because I dont need them. I also only run the QMB missions with 'jetwar' prefix in this module. You can easily reactivate the planes in air.ini by using vpmodpacks air.ini as a template, but I dont see the point.

Hello Istvan,
I have problems adding new skins in Jetwar; I have copy/pasted relevant skin folders into the paintschemes/skins folder of the jsgmemods folder of VP_JETWAR_Skins,  but the new skins donnot appear in game.

You need to activate the skinpack with jsgme after install, then you can add skins into or create folders in Paintschemes/Skins/.. as usual. Only 8bit skins work without the HD mod.

Love the modpack, but I'm having a problem.  :-[ I decided to swap back to the main VP Modpack by choosing it in IL-2 Selector (and I'm sure I selected the right module, as the WW2 planes are all back), but it still only shows the Jetwar maps in the QMB!  I'm probably just missing something obvious, but a little help would be appreciated.  :)

EDIT:  Nevermind, I figured out how to fix it.  Just copy+pasted the mission folders back into the QuickQMBPro folder :)

I have a problem. When I play jetmod QMB mission rather a long minutes then to click 'done' to quit the mission, the game freezes. Is it because of my PC ability?  Best regards.

Thanks for your great job to add JTW in VP.  But my computer might be not working good in playing JETWAR. Like CTD after playing quick mission in Korea map.So I recently copied items for Jet in #SAS folder and play in   VP Modpack. Added: SAS:commonutilils,enginemod,engineguidedmissiles,weaponpack2016,02_QWeaponsPack,00_1956_Core_v13,00_1956_FIX.
Deleted: !CTO_Modact5,!!00_0_FXEvolution_v4.12.
No other jets added so far. It works fine in any Quick mission,no CTD. But problem is that there isn't 'select missiles' in controls menu. Any idea to fix it?

Sorry to ask another question.  In my VP JETWAR, the smoke trail of sidewinder would disappears at the half of the target. Is it natural in VP?  In the case of BAT, it lasts nearly to the target.

Missiles' smoke trails are drawn only in seconds of each missiles' historical rocket motor fire periods, like AIM-9B is 2.2 seconds .... AIM-9L is 5.5 seconds.

Missiles continue Inertial flight after the motor shut-down with a little weak vapor.

Longer trail display times could also have an impact on the fps in large dogfights, so I did not change them. To be honest I'm not even sure which files to change, java or eff.

You can try increasing the 'livetime' parameter inside the eff files located in #JETWAR\00_1956_FIX\3DO\Effects\.

Nothing was changed since it's release, so I'd say yes it's still beta. 90% of the planes are completly ok, the rest has minor issues.
Just to mention a few examples:
- AC-47 gunsigth misaligned
- AH-1 Cobra 40mm launcher not working
- Mirages have incomplete ordnance list
- issues with chopper FM's (Bell-47, MH-6)
- SAM's need to be updated
+ probably a ton of other things, but I never really finished testing

I've been away from IL2 for 6 years..got it back up and running..went looking for the newest ultrapack and found the vpmodpack (Awesome!). Then stumbled upon this...I have been enjoying this immensely...just wanted to say THANK YOU!

"Toggle Bomb Release mode" key , here.

If missing, some mods conflicting to Engine mod.


And when this key doesn't work for bomb selecting after correctly the key assigned,
the aircraft you are riding doesn't support select bomb release mode.
Aircrafts' classfile side design is needed to use this function, too.

Requires 4.12 & VPmodpack. It does not modify vpmodpack, the only file being overwritten is the il2fb.ini (selector options).
Compressed size is 3250Mb, extracted is 17114Mb.

I'm interested on this, but am a bit confused.
If I understand correctly, if one wants to try JETWAR on a clean IL2 (v4.12.2) installation, it means there is also the need to download and install VP-Modpack's 16 big RAR files + 2 patches, all worth about 44GB(!) file size in disc, right?
So, this uses some part of VP-Modpack to have files feed, but yet not directly compatible (run separately)...? :-X

....if so, and noticing that it's "WIP", please allow me the appeal, having in mind those who want the Korea and Vietnam jet-era in lL-2 1946 (with VP-Modpack quality standards) without the need to install other big mod packages and complications. :-[

Instead of making JETWAR an addon for VP-Modpack, wouldn't it be a better idea to make it a separate release, independent of any other mod?
Considering that the older "IL2 1956" jet-era mod became pretty complicated to install and get to work (and outdated?) for the average user, and having more assets for the jet era available since that, I'd consider JETWAR as a far nicer alternative and a golden opportunity to take on.

What I mean is, we now have VP-Modpack as one of the most complete, polished and optimized (and probably the most valid now) "IL2 mod compilations" meant specifically for WW2.
Maybe JETWAR could become the same for the Korea and Vietnam conflicts on IL2, with respective era aircraft, maps, assets, missions and campaigns, released as full standalone mod package. :)
Then maybe releasing an optional patch for those that do want to mix JETWAR with VP-Modpack.

Anyway, just an appeal/suggestion, nothing more.
I'm very appreciative of the efforts of everyone involved and, considering VP-Modpack's qualities, then the guys bringing JETWAR to us are onto something.

Love this mod, but not all of my jets, such as the mig 21 have skin folders, whereas they used to do. In addition, there are many ww2 maps in jetwars that aren't in the main VP modpack that I can't use in the ww2 version.

It seems that you did not read the release posts.

There's a large jsgme skinpack included, you probably forgot to activate it.

Btw the skin folder names are in the air.ini, first column.

Yes, I wrote in the first post that the pack is still WIP and there are a few problems I could not fix.
I'd say that most of the planes work fine. If you want a better jet pack, get BAT.

I've extracted the download file into the game folder which has the vp jetwar etc and i did add the skinpack into the jsgme but my game won't start. i also replaced the il2 fb file. what am i doing wrong? i try to start the game but it crashes right before it goes to the loading screen.

Unfortunately my loading screen freezes at 95% (stock loading screen).

I didn't receive any errors during unpacking. Activated the skinpack in JSGME.

Any idea what could be causing that?

-if vpmodpack would be missing you would crash at 5% due to the lack of sfs files

-if you can extract the 7z without errors its not broken

-if you got 3 options (stock/vpmodpack/jetwar) in the selector the files were correctly placed (create no subfolder for the files during extract)

only thing I can think is that you got 4.13 instead of 4.12 game version

Hello, I've been playing this modpack and it works great for the most part.

However, I want to install some of the other jets available on the forums such as the F-16, MiG-23, and Sukhoi Pack, and it keeps causing a CTD at 20%. I added the lines to the air.ini and planes files in the Jetwar folder and I even tried updating the required mods, and then reverting them to the originals when this didn't fix anything. Is there a fix for these crashes when adding other mods? It seems to have to do with radar.

Add the SAS AI flyables mod, its a jsgme option in the SAS modact so you just need to copy its files into the mod and sfs folders.

Hello, I've been playing this modpack and it works great for the most part.

However, I want to install some of the other jets available on the forums such as the F-16, MiG-23, and Sukhoi Pack, and it keeps causing a CTD at 20%. I added the lines to the air.ini and planes files in the Jetwar folder and I even tried updating the required mods, and then reverting them to the originals when this didn't fix anything. Is there a fix for these crashes when adding other mods? It seems to have to do with radar.

Log from the latest crash when I tried to run Jetwar with the Sukhoi pack. Apologies for the long post, it won't let me use the code tag for some reason.

The Sukhoi pack requires the Mig-21 pack which imho will conflict with the existing Mig-21 mods so those must be removed first (files and ini entries). Dont forget to make a backup before editing the pack. Updating the SAS engine mod to its latest version is also a good idea, if you want to add more mods. Be aware that you can run into unexpected classfile conflicts when adding new planes.

I'm having a little noob issue...I fully installed VP Modpack...and everything works great. 
I extracted JETWAR to the game folder however it is NOT appearing in the selector with the
other stuff. 

What am I missing?

Make sure that you did not create an extra subfolder during extraction. If your game folder contains a folder named #JETWAR, the pack was correctly extracted. Btw the options in the selector menu are controlled by the file named il2fb.ini, if you dont see a change, that means that this file was definitely not updated. If your #JETWAR folder is correctly in place, try updating il2fb.ini manually.

I downloaded Jetpack for IL-2 1946 VPModpack.

Basic, I have version 4.12.2 and VPModpack.

I have everything installed but when I run the game after selecting "Jetwar" in the selector, the game crashes at 5 percent of the load. What did I forget to do?

I dont know what went wrong. All you need to do is to extract the single 7z file into your game folder. A 5% crash usually indicates a missing sfs file. Try checking your log.lst file (conf.ini, LOG=1) for more info.

I don't know if it has been reported but most helicopters are unflyable. Give a little bit power then they pitch up and roll over their back. It is a pity because I madly love the Huey. The only helicopter I could fly with reasonable controllability is the AH-1. Maybe as a stop-gap measure, all helicopters should adopt the Cobra's FM.

Successfully installed and run Jetwar addons.
But there is weird behaviour of some jets like Il-28, MiG-17, which refuse to land in QMB when either on autopilot and as AI, even on concrete runways, like in Crimea map..
MiG-15 bis lands regularly.
Is anywhere a fix, please?

I think that wrong landing direction or incorrect waypoint setup could cause a jet act strange in a QMB mission.
On the BB North Vietnam map the Mig-17A's I tested landed without problems.

I created special QMB missions for the jets, their names start with JETWAR.
I remember a few bugs where jets were unable to hit a waypoint due to large turning circle or could not land because a mountain way in their way.
To be honest I did not do much testing or mission building with this pack, hence the BETA postfix. I have no future plans for this pack, its only purpose was to enable vpmodpack users to try jets without any hassle and in a "small" 3Gb package.

your work on Jetwar addons is greatly appreciated, my post was in no case an offence, just an attempt to clear the situation for QMB and FMB mission makers .  I tried to make a FMB mission on Crimea map wth waypoints at greater mutuial distance, and MiG-17A lands well. However, when trying Il-28 I found that all seems OK up to the last waypoint before that of landing, where Il2 engine opens automatically autopilots "korobochka". As guys at Aviaskins guess, that pattern must be set inside planes code.

Hello I am having some problems and just wanted to know if there are any fixes. To begin with it seems in the QMB that the sides for the US and the Northern Vietnamese are flipped and whenever I do a strike I am attacking a carrier force as the US. Another problem is that I tried to play I believe its called the Hot Honcho campaign and I spawned in a pink sabre in a world that only has the sky. One last thing I was just wondering on how to fly the helicopters without overheating and killing the engine? I know that might be a bit of a noob question so sorry if that is painfully simple or obvious. Thanks for this though it is really cool and interesting what you guys have done with this sim.

Overheating: turn off overheating in the difficulty options, I fly with most fm diff. options off

The very first mission. It also said when I started the campaign that the il2 campaign manager changed me from major so I could fly as the lead pilot or something so maybe that did it? Idk. But thanks for the help, and wow for a 2-3 day project this is really good.

Edit: It seems like another one of the campaigns are messed up for me in a way. For some reason the Vietnam 1965 campaign has no briefings but other than that the missions work normally.

Edit 2: I did a bit of testing with Hot Honcho and it seems that I get 1 of 2 options whatever I try (changing rank, flight, position in flight, or pressing the reset button) which is either spawning in a pink sabre in the corner of the map where my camera goes into nothingness no matter what I do or I spawn on the runway with my landing gear up and everything explodes around me sometimes including myself. Really confused on why this would be happening

People always asked about flying jets in vpmodpack and the only feasible solution was to make a new module. The assembly process was 2-3 days but of course making some of the improvements took much more time.

Vietnam 1965 campaign:
Set locale=en in your conf.ini and the briefings should work or remove _en postfix from briefing names.
But there isnt much of a briefing, just some very basic info.

Hot Honcho campaign:
Exploding planes mean wrong ordnance set in the mission, in this case somehow the droptank ordnance name changed from 2x207gal to 2x207dt.
I need to retest the whole thing, I'll upload the corrections soon.

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious but how does radar work in this mod?  I see there are some bindings in the controls settings and I assigned those but I'm not sure they're working. I had no problem switching between missiles but I couldn't get AIM-7s to lock, they just fired and flew straight.  Is there any actual in cockpit radar as well?

Btw the mod is amazing..thanks for making this more accessible than the huge BAT packs. I had a lot of fun this morning zooming around in jets.  :)

Thanks for the link.  Yes it would be nice if they would part out the larger mod.

For the AIM-7 should I be getting some kind of lock-on notification or noise or something like the growl on the sidewinders?
