Title: Bombsaway's Historicaly Correct Palau Map.
Post by: SAS~Bombsaway on September 30, 2017, 02:05:51 PM
This my historicaly correct Palau map. The time period is 1944.
Created using BAT with added objects as noted below.

This version is heavy with palm trees and may cause FPS drop in older , slower computers or if you are running a 16 plane flight mission.

I will try to rework this for older computers soon.

Credits go to the original maker of the map from 1c.

Redko for his retexture of that map and his Peleliu runway texture.

Geezer for his new objects. https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,50392.0.html

You WILL need to go to that page and download his objects to get this map to work.

The original maker of the Japanese bunker that I retextured and made into the CoralMound object.

DaveOD06 for his Marshall Island Buildings and Pacific Roads

A huge thanks to Gumpy for testing.

KiwiBiggles for his great work with runway taxi and parking points.

If I left anyone out, please let me know so I can add you to the credits.

Install by adding the folder BA_Palau and forest folders to your _tex folder. If you already have a forest folder, add the Transparent.tga to yours.

Add the Bombsaway's Palau folder to your mapmods/maps folder. Add the 3do folder to your mapmods folder.

If you already have a 3do folder in your mapmods folder, add the Marshall Island Buildings and Pacific folders to the buildings folder in the 3do folder. Add the Pacific Roads to your airfield folder.

Add all of the entries to the static.ini and all.ini.

Download and install Geezer's objects mentioned above.

I have uploaded V02 for those that are missing some objects. If you are still missing objects, please do a search or ask in a new thread of where to find them. I made this map using BAT. For objects such as the Japanese barrels you will have to go to my BTM Islands thread and download Max's objects.... https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,36179.msg397012.html#msg397012

Awesome stuff as usual.

it is truly amazing  ;) :D

A lot of research went in to this for sure.  ;) :)

A lot of original W.W.2 pics were used to give a great historical immersion effect  ;D

I can spend hours in the pacific wrecks site and not do any mapping ooops there goes the afternoon.
Way better than Facebook or Twitter.

Cheers,
Kirby

I had always thought the transparent treees were stock. I'll have to ask around to see if I can find it. It has always been in my game through all the versions.

Ok, I think I found the transparent tga. Open the the zip, take the forest folder and place it in your _tex folder if you dont have one. If you do have the forest folder, take the tga out and put it in your forest folder. Please report back and tell me if it works.

On the occasion of this map revealed again the curse of mods - lack of standardization. Here even the author of the map does not know what packs objects he used. I do not smile to install dozens of packages in the hope that I will eventually hit all the needed objects. Has anyone got an idea how to solve this?

Edit:

Bombsaway - please - see in which sections static.ini are the following objects:

Code: [Select]
Pacific_Roads1_Road
Pacific_Roads1_RoadTurn45
Pacific_Roads2_RoadTurn30
Pacific_Roads2_RoadTurn15
Pacific_Roads2_Road_T
Pacific_Roads11_Road_Y
Pacific_Roads1_RoadShort
Oil_Well
BarrelBlock1_JP1
BarrelBlock1_JP2
Fiat626_scrap

This will help you find the right package.
When I add objects with VP Modpack I just miss the listed ones.Thank you in advance.

Get the Universal Static ini Checker from this page http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,33463.0.html

This will tell you which objects you do not have.

Personally I am pleased that the author of the map has shared it with us. Any minor problems we may have resolving the installation is nothing compared with the enormous work which has gone into creating the map.

Kelso, I cant help but think your reponse at the top sounds rude. Over the years I had to add a ton of objects or mods to get things to work. I was always greatful for other modders to share thier work so I felt its my responsability to hunt down and install any objects that I was missing, not tell them they had to do it for me.
This is not a service. This is me sharing my work for free. If you are missing something, do a search, ask in a new thread that you start and see if anyone knows where to find said objects.
I cant be expected to spoon feed everyone or hold their hand. Do some of the work for yourself.

I have uploaded a new version with the Pacific roads objects and transparent.tga. Also, I posted a link to Max's objects. You will have to search them for the barrels and then search the SAS for the other objects you need. The Fiat626_scrap may be in a wrecked vehicle mod. I'm sure you can find the oil well object.

@ Kelso... You can find the fiat scrap here... https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,52067.12.html  Look for Max's reply # 18. Do a search for oil well and you will have found all the objects you are missing.

I found all these by doing a search of this site. I'm sure you could do the same.

Does anyone already installed those map on VPmodpack with success ? If the reponse is yes, waht did you add to make them work?

For those who downloaded and were able to run this map, would you guys mind posting some pics and give me some feed back? I would like to know if there might be some updates I need to do for it.

Awesome!
The results are incredible and well worth all your research and work.
And yeah.....those Palm trees..
they can slow things down a bit with a lot of planes. But they look incredible.
Real Nice!

Would really appreciate some help to find links to these objects, that static ini checker declares as missing. I dont seem to be able to use correctly the search function on this forum

Missing objects in your static.ini:

buildings.House$Oil_Well
buildings.House$BarrelBlock1_JP1
buildings.House$BarrelBlock1_JP2
buildings.Plate$BlankParkingLarge

Blank plate large should be stock. Do a seach here or you may have ask if anyone has them extracted.

Oil well was a simple search.  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,20228.msg218221.html#msg218221

For thr barrels go here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,50389.0.html  and search Max'z links. I believe he made them.

Thanks i solved this...Its cos i'm using Boomers Object pack and the main situation was that the static.ini from UP3 which needs to be used in Boomers Objects has a chunk of stuff missing that the Modact 5.3 static.ini has including the airfield plate. Difference tween ver 4.10 and 4.12 i guess... Proper use of Boomers Object Pack, please note everyone, means spending time using static ini checker tool to merge the two static.ini files from UP3 and Modact 5.3 rather than just replace in Modact 5.3 the one from UP3. I imagine a lot of other map object issues could be resolved this way.

Glad you got it sorted. I use WinMerge to compare ini's and fix some issue.

Its one of the most beautiful maps in the game, love it,  but the trees cause some serious fps drop. Is there a workaround you could suggest?

Make one then. :) Go into you MAPMODS folder, you should have a folder named "Maps" in which you have all the map folders such as my Palau map. Inside your Maps folder right click to create a new folder and name it _tex.

Now back out to the MAPMODS folder where you have the Maps folder and create a folder named 3do. Inside that folder is where you place any object folders. Then you will add any static entries to the ini.s in the STD located in your STD folder.

   Ok up to here
"Then you will add any static entries to the ini.s in the STD located in your STD folder"
I found the std folder but no ini.s        I hknow what needs to be copied but can't find that ini.s in the STD folder

Got part of it corrected I was in the WAW folder instead of the SAS mapmods folder ...just can't find the ini.s
