Santos-Dumont Demoiselle
The Santos-Dumont Demoiselle ("Damselfly" or "Damsel") was a series of aircraft built in France by Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont. They were light-weight monoplanes with a wire-braced wing mounted above an open-framework fuselage built from bamboo. The pilot's seat was below the wing and between the main wheels of the undercarriage. The rear end of the boom carried a tailwheel and a cruciform tail. Wiki
Update The Demoiselle now has it's own slot. Thanks to stiv_069 and to all those involved with bringing us this new slot and the original aircraft.

Marvellous !
Fantastique !
... but can anybody describe to noob how to install this plane, please ?
-
Uzin, noob!? ;D
-
Uzin, noob!? ;D
Yes, I am, as it is going for installation of classfiles etc. >:(
What paste to which folder and so on.
Thanks in advance of any help.
-
Hi Uzin,
The install is the same as any other aircraft now that it has it's own slot. Add the downloaded 08_Demoiselle folder to your mod folder of choice then add the air.ini entry in the readme to your \STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\air file. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Edlor

Thanks, Edlor, I made it before, the same way as you say , but it did not work for me.
-
With what little info you've provided Uzin, I'm afraid that's the best I can offer you at this time.
Cheers,

Tried again:
Copy/pasted the folder from the first post in this thread, namely 08_Demoiselle folder, into 4.13.4 SAS modact 6.40 #SAS folder, the proper line
Demoiselle air.Demoiselle 1 NOINFO r01 SUMMER
into SAS/STD/com/ maddox/il2/ objects/ air.ini. With no success. Again game fires to desktop. What more info can I give ? Yes, there is not Nieuport 11 installed.
Sorry for inconvenience.
EDIT:
Tried to install also to BAT module DOF2. no success. Again game fires to desktop.
-
Not sure what to tell you Uzin.
I just tried this in my 4.13.4 with 6.40 and it worked flawlessly. I also tried it in CUP #DOF with the same results. Perhaps you have a corrupted copy. Try downloading it again and see if that works for you.
Cheers,
Edlor

Very odd.... :(
The Damselfly works for me in both DOF and DBW 1916

BTW.... Master Edlor, after producing a string of beautiful a/c just recently.....would you be interested in helping bring this Gunbus to life ?
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,55312.0.html
A polite question....not a request .....and certainly not a demand ;D
Cheers

Heuréka !
I freshly d/lded Demoiselle from the first post here, installed it into 4.13.4 and voila !
It flies in QMB, very lovely plane, I shall use it for testing of new Irkutsk map.
Many thanks to all who has patience with me, excuse for inconvenience.
Best regards,
Ivan
N.B. I relied upon mediafire, but I have earlier troubles with file no. 15 in vpmedia, similarly as Max.

Very cool little aircraft 8) Thank you. Great fun to fly!
Those early pilot pioneers had lots of fun with these airplanes.
Here is something you can do to make this 3d-model look a little bit better in your game.
You will have to do this to your personal game, so I am not posting here all the files.
Go open up your folder .... \3do\Plane\Demoiselle(Multi1)
Now open each file with NOTEPAD and look to see if you see the words... [LightParams] written on it.
When you see this word, change the number values on it to this (see below).
[LightParams]
Ambient 1.0
Diffuse 1.0
Specular 0.2
SpecularPow 2
Shine 0.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do this to ALL files,
except the two files named... Pilot1 and Rigging
For these 2 files write the following number values....
[LightParams]
Ambient 1.0
Diffuse 1.0
Specular 0.0
SpecularPow 0
Shine 0.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This will make your 3d-model look a little less shiny and less bright and have a more "natural look".
Some of the texture skins used for this airplane need their colors to be changed to have less bright colors
and less saturation of colors, so to make the wood parts and canvas parts have a more natural look.
But this will need for someone to make a new skin-template or use Photoshop to do some color channel tweaks.
-
Thanks all. :)
Glad you like it and that screenshot should be framed and hung in a museum Alfie. I really like that. :)
As to the Gunbus I've got too many projects on the go to take on another one at this time. If one doesn't show up by the time I get caught up I'd be happy to bring it to life then. ;)
I'm happy to hear you got it working Uzin and I'll be looking forward to your Irkutsk map once you're done your testing.
Thanks Max and thanks for the tips on adjusting the lightparams values. They'll definitely come in handy for future projects. ;)
Cheers and thanks again,
Edlor

Muito legal!
Vi uma copia to Demoiselle em Paris. Vai tentar o 14 bis?
[Very nice. I saw a copy of the Demoseille in Paris. Are you going to try making the 14 bis? (Also from Santos Dummont)]
-
Thanks UberDemon. :)

That would have been cool to see and no plans for the 14 Bis at this time.
Cheers,
Edlor

Every time I see a clip of the 14 bis flying, I think. No way. It's facing the wrong way. Not going to happen. Then, it takes off. Simply amazing.
-
Hi! Have problem: when mission starts, the airplane shakes violently and explode, even with throttle at idle
-
Hi,
Could you provide more info such as which game version you're using and a log file.
-
I'm running DBW 1.71
-
About the log, I don't know how to do it( or find it).Sorry :(
-
Try this :)

Thanks Max, what a neat tweak. Thanks to Edlor and stiv_069 too, what a wonderful plane.

High Edlor
When engine is stopped, Hub disappears ( ..also at low RPM.. ) and it reveals prop is at 90' ! o_O
Normally this fact is hidden by the Hub.
(http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/4a32/9khhjpv6qej7d4j7g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/view/?9khhjpv6qej7d4j)
Engine is running(http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/0cc7/3i9kp6as6udcz8o7g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/view/?3i9kp6as6udcz8o)
Engine's off, Hub gone, prop 90'(http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/ccdf/7d9h8n09qqo8bkj7g.jpg) (http://www.mediafire.com/view/?7d9h8n09qqo8bkj)
Oh well. It appears [PropRot1_D0] has been use to activate this hub. So having a visual propeller seen running screwed.
-
Thanks for the heads up Hubberranz.
Fix added to first post.
Cheers,
Edlor
-
Thank you very much. Tested successfully ! ;D
-
Happy to hear that. ;)

Guys, I'd like to claim credit for this model, if possible.
This is the Demoiselle model I've made for Flight Simulator ages ago, and with the same textures I adapted from the wright flyer.
The power lever on the left side is something I invented because at the time I couldn't find where it was located on the original.
My name is Marcel Di Foggi, and my model was uploaded to simviation years ago (FS2004 Vintage Aircraft Page 93 - an older version, the newer which is used here was removed some time ago).
I felt truly happy to see all the hours of my work being appreciated, even more so that it is on IL2 now, but I would like to be properly credited.
I have my original FSDS Model and files, if required.
Best regards,
Marcel.
