Cessna 172 Redux

This one is basically just for fun and is based on Bison_M's innovative Cessna-172 ver. 1.1 which

can be found here.

I'm a big fan of Bison_M for bringing us such a huge variety of aircraft that I've enjoyed flying and

that without him I'd still be waiting for some of these to be able to fly. Thanks for all your works

To use simply swap out the original Cessna-172 folder with this one. No change to the air.ini or

skin folder to which I've added an additional 1024 and 2048 skin to start things off. Also note that

this uses the original 172's cockpit but I'm working on one that will be more suitable.So please

bear with me as it may be a while.

Tested and working in 4.12.2m with Modact 5.30 and B.A.T. (#JTW2)

Cessna-172 ver. 1.1 beta

Original L-72 classfiles altered by: Skvorez (Aviaskins)

3d alterations: Bison_M



It was tested in 4101m with SAS ModAct 3.6 and 4122 with SAS ModAct 5.30.


You will need L-72 mod in your game and anything that mod requires.



Put the mod here: IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/MODS or #SAS and then add the entries below.

Your air.ini can be found here: IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/#SAS/STD/com/maddox/il-2/objects/air.

Just have a question, do not know if it is normal or not. I can choose any nationality to have new 3d, except US which gives old 3d. Is it correct ?

Is it possible that the mod (cockpit) isn't compatible with UP3RC4? My game freezes after pushing the fly-button.

I have the required mods but it wont show in arming screen. When I revert back to the earlier plane it shows but not your new version.

I have installed this airplane into the VP-Modpack (Game 4.12) and its flying very nice.
NO OTHER Mod-airplanes was needed (as described in the download instructions) !

I do not have the original L-72 installed in my game at the moment.
So this is working for me as a stand-alone Cessna-172 !  8)
Very cool.

By the way, the cockpit (pilot-view) is still what you would see on the Stintson airplane.

 I wasn't expecting this much interest in this one but I'm certainly glad to see it and you're very welcome . :)

@ Max_ theHitman. I think the majority of us had or first encounters with aircraft at the civy level and glad I could fulfill your dream. As for me I had my first flight in my fathers friends 172 out of the Oshawa Airport at the age eight. From that day on I was completely hooked on everything aeronautic.  :)

@ Gaston I'll have to look to be sure but I believe that could happen since the original uses the US as country of origin and these use the GB.

@ Blaubaer I have no way to check this in the UP3RC4 version of game but seeing as I haven't touched the original cockpit yet. Your problem may stem from the original Cessna 172 or lack of. Just a guess.

@ Bombsaway Could you provide a little more info please.

412,2m SAS 5.3.

The plane file needs a COPY of  Cessna-172 file                              (<---- behaves like 'multi' ) name Cessna-172(multi) don't work for now.
                                                 with name Cessna-172(US)

...otherwise game will not find hier.him under US as nation.

So path 3do\plane\Cessna-172(US)  and also 3do\plane\Cessna-172 are both needed. Different default skins will be possible.

Now with the two files, runs ok.

Hi Edlor, didn't see your question for a while:     ag_Pensacola.

This map is the only non-desert usa, non-Alaska or non-Hawaii. So I use it for all North America and civil flights.

Through the years I added cross country buildings and towns, corrected roads, added bridges then modern Skyline "to my desire" to Pensacola + Mobile, also built three modern airports outside Pensacola+ Mobile + Freeport ( import from Reno map..). All this nothing real, but makes for a generic USA map for me, and WIP.
 
Here you have Mobile Skyline which is twofold: original skyline on map uses the old skyscraper mod and old skins. A new version of skyscraper mod with new skins was later made, as well as new buildings introduced; rather then apply the new skins, I made new models of them, then tested them by adding to the MISSION and this city for test, but not on map. So there are Mission buildings and map buildings here, both old and new versions at same time.

Skyscrapers have no collision unfortunately.

   You've obviously put a lot of time and effort getting it to look the way you want. I may have to give mapping a shot one of these days. Perhaps a Halifax, Patricia's Bay or Torbay map to launch some sub searching missions from. ;)

 I'd like to do that but I think it's only fair that I give those who are kind enough to do the slots a chance to catch up. Otherwise we'd just have a pile of aircraft stuck in limbo.;)

Cool thing. I work from time to time on the map of the Grand Canyon, and there I will also expand the city. How do I issue this in QMB version Area 51, will be the training missions for USAF, USMC and US NAVY. But some work still left me.

I've been trying to troubleshoot this for a good while and found this mod works for me if I start a quick mission in the air, but if I fly down to 40 meter it gives me a C++ runingtime error. I was hoping y'all might figure out my problem. I'm using Il-2 4.10 DBW 1.71.

   This was never tested by me in 4.10 DBW so I couldn't tell you if it works there or not but thanks for the log file. Hopefully one of our coder members will have a look at it and have a solution for your issues.

This mod has a dedicated pilot that does not use common pilot.skin; try, you will see.

...BUT made clones of them to preserve the original looks.

My skyline:
- 50% with the original older skins were objects placed on my map's actors. ( ag.pensacola ).
- 50% with the newer skins ( clone into separate objects ) were added into the missions made for the map.

... this requires objects, objects and more objects, plus the clone towers in their newer skins.


... for a total of 41 skyscrapers, instead of 30, and more. (--> 48 ! ).
