V1.01:

-Slightly better shaded rudder
-Fixed left wing shadow flickering
-Pilot's head re-attached to spine
-New skins and default by Ont_R

From Wikipedia:

"The Hawker Sea Hawk was a British single-seat jet fighter of the Fleet Air Arm (FAA), the air branch of the Royal Navy (RN), built by Hawker Aircraft and its sister company, Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft. Although its origins stemmed from earlier Hawker piston-engined fighters, the Sea Hawk became the company's first jet aircraft.

Following the type's successful acceptance in the RN, the Sea Hawk proved to be a reliable and sturdy workhorse. A considerable number were also produced for the export market, and were operated from aircraft carriers in both Dutch and Indian service. The last operational Sea Hawks, operated by the Indian Navy, were retired in 1983."

I've tested this in CUP WaW and 4.12; if people get it working in other version, let me know, and i'll add it to the labels above.

I know the airbrake isn't quite right - I only discovered this over the weekend; i'll try and fix in a future version.

A void skin is available to skinners on request. Skins are required! The default is especially terrible this time; my apologies. I can't paint.

Skins go to SeaHawk.

I hope you fixing those problems.

Not for the time being - i've very limited time for these projects; i'm afraid it's "not perfect" or "not at all". But to answer you points:

1,2: Smoothing problem; the fix is a new rudder, if I get the time. GMax won't cover it.

3: texture issue, not mapping. The mapping lines up perfectly on the void mesh.

4: Landing gear always annoys me; that's as good as it gets.

After puttering around in Gio's new Tupolev R-3, flying the Sea Hawk is a real blast  8)
All the more poignant as the Sea Hawk was one of the first Airfix models I ever built.....back in the last century  ??? :D ???

Wow! Handles like a dream. No problem landing on CV. However, on mine, the canopy does not open. Anyone else noticed this? I believe screen shots show open canopy.

In my game, I also cannot open its canopy.

I've not looked at classfiles' source and FM file but maybe....
enabling opening canopy flag in FM file was forgotten?

Yep, it was missing in the FM - the first FM version had it; got missed when it was copied over. I've added and updated FM and rudder to the first post.

When looking at it in slow motion it looks like some invisible cable hits it. I tried landing on at a base and it lands without breaking. One other small thing is when navigation lights are on the white tail light is way up in the air away from the plane. I'm sorry to even complain at all because this aircraft handles really well,you did a very good job.

That's really annoying - and I have no idea why it's happening; the new rudder must have fouled it up somehow. I'll take a look when I get a chance.

Sorted it - updated keel on page 1. One of the 3D fixes I tried randomly span the collision box around, so everytime you got near the ground or hit the arrestor wire, it tore the fin off. It always threw the navigation light out.

I followed all the last reply and I re-installed this beauty v1.01 as reported in first post (also the fixed) but landing on carrier still remains the rudder crash problem. I tested also as AI and the result was the same.
No problem landing on ground.
I missed something or this bug isn't solved?

I should do - what I think is happening is that when the hook moves, it's hitting one of the collision boxes (what the game uses to detect damage) when it shouldn't be; this is tearing the tail off as soon as you catch a wire. And if it's not that, it's the tail hitting the deck.

                  I can confirm that the Sea Hawk is now airworthy. She is a great carrier plane. The flight model is very stable. You did a very good job on the plane and very fast with the fixes.

She seems fine. Thanx for the update. Only problem I have is that the CAT on the Illustrious does not work. a/c snaps to CAT but only excellerates to 40 kts. That's true of all a/c. Other CVs are fine. Anyone else experienced this?
BTW really appreciate the very nice skins.

Several of my buddies and myself have this aircraft and are all experiencing a common problem. When engine exhaust/smoke is activated during high throttle setting it stays on even when the engines are shut off. Won't go away until respawn and does the same thing again. In flights where several SeaHawks are used as AI the smoke overwhelms even top notch graphics cards. Is it possible to adjust the FM or other triggering file to have smoke turn off when the throttle setting is reduced?

We all downloaded and reinstalled it again yesterday, including keel/navlight patch on page 1 and the latest rudder patch from your post #39.

It's ok; and yes, very! Although i'm taking a break from big mods at the moment. It's 30 degrees here...

I'll have a look into it - i'm not sure about the solution though; I did have this issue pre-release, but I fixed it for the aircraft on my computer at least, so i'm not sure how it's still happeing for you. It'll be a week or two though i'm afraid.

Are you down south (God's Glorious south)? I'm up in Chester; it hit 30 here, which is unheard of. Anyway, I digress. I'd go straight for 4.13 personally.

..I am a little more South than yourself, am in Brum, it was fething hot yesturday here too, mid 30's, it felt hotter in late evening though after the days 'heatsoak' kicked in after it went dark - luckly I had some refigerated water & ice bottles to drink and cool down with.

4.13, perhaps, is it any good ...I've heard conflicting things about it being a bit poor on 1C/TD-'s usual standards :o , sorry to hijack your thread in a tangental manner :P

I have it working in my heavy modded '4.12 jet war 1.3 modact'.

You need some other plane(s) installed there to get the weapons and so the plane.
Maybe the F9F panther mod (as the Seahawk is based on it). Give it a try.

Hi, i can confirm does not work in 4.12 jet war 1.3 sas modact.

I have it working in my heavy modded '4.12 jet war 1.3 modact'.

You need some other plane(s) installed there to get the weapons and so the plane.
Maybe the F9F panther mod (as the Seahawk is based on it). Give it a try.

It *should* be independent of the Panther mod - but I can tell for sure when I see the log.

I went through and disabled both the F9F and Meteor mods (since I have all three mods in discussion).

Both times, the Seahawk was not affected.

Just so that's completely ruled out.

I tried to get it to work in HSFX 7.0.2 with AG-51's mod package, I've got F9F's, Meteor's, Vampires, Venom's all working fine, but the Seahawk nearly loads in game but I get a Mission Loading Fail: Null and it stops, my log looks like the buttons does not see the Seahawks FM.

I don't know from which mod the engine model "PWJ42.emd" came , but this engine model exists in SAS button but not in HSFX button.
This Sea Hawk uses this engine model and needs it.

P&W J-42 is/was allegedly used by the McDonnel Douglas F-9 Panther.. according to Pratt & Whitney. ..I'm a fool, didn't register the '..which mod..' bit of that last sentence until minutes later.

I have the F9F Panther in my HSFX 7.0.2 install and it works fine, so that file should be in HSFX. 
Really upset the SeaHawk does not work in HSFX

Original F9F2 MOD released in SAS set the engine model name as "PWJ42" in SAS button.
This Sea Hawk MOD uses the same engine by the same engine model name.

In the other hand, HSFX developer decided to merge Jet engines models into one file named "GeneralElectric" in HSFX7 button in packing F9F2 mod.
So.... HSFX7 has F9F2 mod inside , but not "PWJ42" engine model in its button.

Sea Hawk MOD needs the engine model named "PWJ42".... but it doesn't exist in HSFX button.

Copying same parameters from button is not good way.
Making confusing and version mismatching. FM parameters meanings are sometimes changed by Team Daidalos and SAS/HSFX button follow it in each base versions(In example, overheating parameter in 4.12.2m).

I think the best way is.... keeping today's classfile and FM file for general SAS version, and Releasing additional FM file only for HSFX7.0.3 referring GerenalElectric.emd.

Hi all,

I took a look at the engine model issue and found a few things.
First of all, the existing Sea Hawk DiffFM file contains some irritating additional files, like Ar-234C, some G4M, BMW 003, two more files I could not find any trace of...
Then, as pointed out correctly before, it references the J42-P-8A from Pratt&Whitney_J42.emd, a file which is not part of the HSFX buttons.
Instead, HSFX uses the same J42-P-8A but from a file GeneralElectric.emd, which holds a lot more engines inside.
Further investigation showed that at least the 4.12.2 and 4.13RC4 buttons (10.4.4 and 11.0.0) also contain the file GeneralElectric.emd with J42-P-8A inside, so the most logical solution to this issue was to simply reference GeneralElectric.emd instead of Pratt&Whitney_J42.emd.
This works for HSFX and it works for Modact 5 and 6 too. Other versions untested so far.

Seems to work fine Mike, it loads and flies like it should, where it wouldn't even load before.  We will test it and see how the performance and overheating issues are as it's used.  Thanks for getting it sorted for us HSFX users.  Now if I could just get the B7A1 and Bearcat working in HSFX.
