Hi everyone!
Today I like to present my main project – a map of the German province of Silesia (Schlesien).
The area lies between the rivers Neisse and Warthe. It was the southern part of the scissor like border of the Reich.
I choosed this area, because the roots of my family lies there, in the near of the capital BRESLAU.
The war started here in 1939 with the Poland campaign and the area saw the end of the war through cruel and heavy fightings between the poor rest of the German war machine and the advancing Red Army!
The map covers about 300km west to east and 200km south to north. You will find some big cities, smaller towns and a number of villages spread over the landscape. They're all handmade as the „Autopop“ I wanted to use didn't work.
There where up to 60 smaller and larger airfields. Some of them based on original plans, the others are free style, but all individual.
And you will find some highlights as the unfinished „Reichsautobahn“ (motorway)...
The map works with HSFX 7, but I think with UP3, too.

Hi everyone!
Due to the struggle to solve my graphic problem (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=9756.96), I used the opportunity to edit the map itself and remove some errors.
Mainly I removed a number of objects (mostly tree lines on streets or too dense tree objects) houses in rivers and some wrong textures...
Nothing serious, but so there now is a reworked Version 2 of the map.
For everyone who is still interested...

das sieht alles richtig richtig gut aus. Was mich nur wundert, ist, daß du innerhalb von einer Woche 3 neue Karten hier ins Forum stellst (bin mal gespannt, was da in einem Monat so alles noch zu erwarten ist :)). Aber jetzt im Ernst. Tolle Arbeit, sieht super aus und ist sehr nützlich für Kampagnen, die Mitte/Ende 1944 angesiedelt sind.
Arbeitest du zufällig noch an einem weiteren Projekt?

Die Karten sind bereits fertig!
Die Schlesien-Karte war das Projekt, was ich hauptsächlich machen wollte. Ich habe fast 1 1/2 Jahre daran gearbeitet! Mit Freunden fliege ich sie bereits seit längerer Zeit - daher auch die anfangs erwähnten kleinen Fehler.
Ich hatte die Karte in meinem Geschwader angeboten, aber dort hat das keinen mehr interessiert (BoS...) und da hat mir "Klaus109" (DER MIR ALLES BEIGEBRACHT HAT!!!!!) vorgeschlagen, die Karte hier vorzustellen....
Ich bin begeistert, wie viele IL2-Anhänger sich hier noch tummeln!!
Tatsächlich hatte ich vor, KEINE neuen Projekte mehr in Angriff zu nehmen, da ich annahm, dass das die Mühe nicht mehr lohnt???
Aber bei der Gelegenheit:
Ich habe noch eine Jamaika-Karte!! Das war meine Übungskarte, um mich mit dem Editor vertraut zu machen, bevor ich Schlesien baute.
Falls Interesse besteht, könnt ich auch die anbieten??

du wirst dich wundern, wieviel hier tatsächlich im SAS-Forum los ist. Und entgegen deinen Eindrücken habe ich eher das Gefühl, daß wir gerade eine kleine Il-2 1946 Renaissance erleben. Sehr viele Leute arbeiten an Karten, neuen Flugzeugen, Mods, DBW2 etc.
Dazu haben wir mit Asuras neuem DGen Mod tolle Möglichkeiten, richtige historische Kampagnen zu erstellen.
Wäre also schade, wenn du nicht weitermachen willst.
Das heißt also auch, daß du gar nicht weißt, was es hier so alles gibt?

Looking forward to its release. Your cities and factories are very impressive and inspirative for me.
As for Silesia airfields, they are also nice, densely populated, too.
I do not know why your autopop program did not work, it is a pity.
What is the period which your map covers ? 1939, 1944 or other ?
I am asking so whether there is damage of buildings included in your map.
May i have a suggestion for the release of youir map ?
It would be nice if you give not only necessary textures, but also the _Tex folder with proper subfolders , it will save time to us, users of your map.
Excuse my English, it is still better than my German, even if I can read acceptably in your language.

The map covers the region at the beginning of the war. The border of the province Silesia was also the eastern border of Germany at that point of time.
The city names shown in red mark the Polish and Czech territory, as you can see on the names in the right language.
I think there's one exception:
The concentration camp hasn't been built at this time, as it is situated on the -conquered- Polish territory..
I didn't fill in any destructions.
I can't tell an exact release date...
It is not so much work, cancelling the forgetten objects, but after flying with the map and some friends I'm not that glad with the texture..especially in the mountain region.
As soon as I find some time I will work on it!
But if you want, I could sent the current version..would be a good test for me, if there are some problems, I do not know by now. Remember I never offered a map to the community before...

Ja, ich habe mich damit noch gar nicht auseinandergesetzt.
Wir flogen zunächst mit Version UP und schließlich HSFX.
Ich habe nun schon ein wenig gestöbert und bin fasziniert, was es alles gibt..ich meine F-4 Phantom II ???
Witzig war, dass ich auch über eine Falklandkarte nachgedacht habe, aber die gibt es ja schon.
Das es schon eine Polenkarte gibt hat mich jetzt auch etwas nervös gemacht bzgl. der Schlesienkarte...
Ich habe zunächst im JG77 erlebt, dass da alles eingeschlafen ist und nun passiert das auch gerade bei meinem aktuellen Geschwader.
Daher war ich unsicher mit dem Kartenbau. Aber vielleicht finde ich doch noch einmal Muße und eine interessante Region..

wenn ich dir etwas vorschlagen darf, dann ist es eine Karte der Region um den Ilmensee. Das ist in Il-2 eine riesige Lücke, und es gäbe dort so viele wichtige Szenerien: Demjansk, Cholm, Welikije Luki, Rzhev
Mein eigentlicher Plan vor ner Weile war, eine Kampagne für die einzelnen Gruppen des JG 54 zu erstellen. Dabei habe ich dann festgestellt, daß eben diese Region jahrelang Schauplatz vieler Einsätze war und die Kampgagne riesige Lücken hätte, wenn ich nur die Region um Leningrad darstellen würde.
Uzin hat mich ermuntert, diese Karte selber zu machen, aber ich habe null Erfahrung und müßte mir erst alles selber beibringen, was dementsprechend lange dauern würde. Da dort aber nicht so viele Städte zu modellieren sind, scheint es zeitlich sich in einem vernünftigen Rahmen zu bewegen.
Aber vielleicht hast du ja Lust. Ich habe bisher nur den Grundstock erstellt, aber noch keine einzige Textur daraufgepackt.

Benno,for the umpteenth time: Maps are independent from games versions!
It only needs that you have all textures wich are called in the load.ini
and objects wich are called in the actors.static.

I thought about installing airdrome points at some spots along the motorway.
Haven't done this by now, as I remembered, that it is possible to install airfields in the FMB!?

You can add airfields without plates over it so the autobahn will be the airfield!

Well - if you asked that kind I will see what I can do for you...
But in the FMB there are the "Static Ships", wher you can find some invisible runway that you can place everywhere.
That way you can create an airfield at any location in the map .. :-O

genial, im Hinblick auf Kampagnen wäre es aber toll, wenn im Süden noch Vitebsk mit draufwäre. Dafür könnte man dann im Westen ein bisschen was weglassen.
Die Front war in diesem Abschnitt ziemlich lange recht unbeweglich. Ich hab mal recherchiert, das I./JG 51 und II./JG 54 waren nahezu zwei Jahre in der Gegend stationiert, dafür wäre die Karte mit Vitebsk dann perfekt.
Wenn du willst, kann ich dir dann, wenn du magst und deine anderen Projekte es erlauben, ja mal meine Mymap_c.tga für den Ilmensee zur Verfügung stellen. Ich habe nämlich schon die Grundkarte in der perfekten Größe hergestellt.
Aber generell super, daß du Interesse hast.

Just tried to install a hidden airfield at the motorway.
I didn't used the "Runaway" objekt to hide the field...
But this leads to taht the AI lands on the nearest "real" airfield :(
So it didn't work..

wäre halt wirklich super, wenn da Vitebsk im Süden dabei ist. Hier mal ein Bild meiner völlig unfertigen ed_m01. Das wäre genau der Kartenausschnitt, den man für die Zeit von Sept. 41 bis Mitte 43 benutzen könnte. Im Nordwesten sollte der Samrosee und Luga drauf sein, im Westen Pskov und Ostrov, im Osten Rzhev und im Süden Vitebsk, alles mit 50-60km Pufferzone, dann wäre es perfekt.

Wenn bei Deiner angefangener Karte alles drauf ist was Du benötigst, dann lade dein Material hoch und schicke poste mir den Link dazu. Wenn nicht alles drauf ist muß ich von vorne anfangen mit microdem und den entsprechenden Kartenausschnitt produzieren. Und es wäre sinnvoll unter "Non-English Language Board" uns zu schreiben. Denn meisten sind hier in Wip Maps Englisch sprechend. Werde mit Autopop ca. 500 Dörfer außer den Städten mit rein schmeißen. Wenn die Karte dann erste Sehenswerte Details hat kann man es hier ja posten.

Im "deutschen" Forum sucht ja niemand wenn dieser nach Neuigkeiten betr. Maps sucht.

I/JG27_Alex, a flight comrade of mine started to create airfield charts for the map. I think they are really awsome!
So if you have no external view on, you can have a look to get to know the place...

I expect that there will come more of the plans by time..
(note that they are only for use in IL2 - so don't fly over there and try to land by this plans -> ala "Red Bull gives NO wings" ;-) )

Well, I think I found a compromise.
I installed spawn positions, taxi and runways, but no Runaway points.
So you'll be able to install a homebase for players that will be hidden for the enemy (not to see in inflight map).
But AI planes won't be able to use it...

Hi! Great looking map so far! I really like it. But, wasn't the scene with the ME262 parked along the road southeast of Munich? Not that there's anything wrong with the work you did. :)

I don't know about the origin of the picture.
But i'm quiet sure, that the motorway in Silesia was used as an auxiliary runwy too, cause there were some aircraft productions in the area.
As some guys asked/suggested to instll such a feature I was only trying to "recreate" the picture to present it. :)

Hello Seppel, congratulations on the release. I added this map to my 4.12 and the game loads up fine, but when I select it my FMB, the game freezes and im forced to Alt-tab to quit the game, and ideas?

I think it's in AI14...turn spawn points visible. They are big enough for at least FW-200.
I forogt, there were also two float plane "airfields" in the two reservoirs!
Maybe not thaaat historical, but as you can't see them, they won't harm...

Oh I'm not criticizing, I love what you did for your map! If your on Facebook, look for Theo Nau, He flew that area with JG 77, his memory is as sharp as a razor blade and he can tell you everything about the area if you decide to do v2.?

I am not a guru over that log error listing, but I have met something similar when trying to apply large blank plates mod. I suspect that this mod might be in collision with some other one ? Perhaps some log guru ( like Storebro ?) can help ?

When I look at AlaskaMan's log error list it seems that it does not have anything to do with the map at all.
But with a missing textures/.mat file of an effect?

Hi,
I experienced similar issue as AlaskaMan: installed map; game launched OK; opened FMB and the top level map showed; when tried to zoom in the map froze. Had to alt-tab to exit game.
I thought it was texture issue and changed some of the textures but result was the same.
There was no error log generated. (I am using HSFX7, and I successfully added Seppel's Eastern Frisia Map before).

I see it was built with HSFX 7. I'm using 4.12 5.30 with quite a few new maps and objects. I never add to the static ini without adding the objects to my 3Do file.
What other systems have people got this map to work in???? 4.09? DBW?? UP3??? 4.11???

Tell a question: I could see the base NEUSTADT but in my book "Luftwaffe Eagle" dedicated to Walter Schuck As it is said that this pilot was posted on NEUDORF airfield in Upper Silesia (Schlesien). Can you confirm to me that the database exists on your map? If not, where should it be located?

I looked for Neudorf, the village itself isn't shown in the map. But I think the airfield you are looking for is the OPPELN-airfield. You can find a picture an page 1 of the thread.
Looking for it I realize, that I wrote NEUSTADT/OPPELN :) So, sorry for that...

Hello Seppel, "Keine problem"!
I found Schlesien why your card was not working. It lacked a subject I could get and install. Everything works as well on a game version DBW 1.71 (4101 base) on my version HSFX 7.03.
Regarding Airfield NEUDORF, it is a base for young drivers education. My book shows that the IV / KG 254 was transferred to NEUDORF in Upper Silesia, north of the Czechoslovak border. Without any further data.

Have you been able to solve the problem?
If you can't save a mission its usually som static objects missing.
Use the Universal static.ini checker

Hi everyone!
Due to the struggle to solve my graphic problem (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=9756.96), I used the opportunity to edit the map itself and remove some errors.
Mainly I removed a number of objects (mostly tree lines on streets or too dense tree objects) houses in rivers and some wrong textures...
Nothing serious, but so there now is a reworked Version 2 of the map.
For everyone who is still interested...

I'm sorry, niestey does not save such missions. On maps I check different planes and situations, time of day and year, etc. Such a fun and time consuming game. I think your map is very good. I have the latest B.A.T, also not sure if it will work on your HSFX.

As I am a very late new user of the BAT Mod, I realized recently, that there is a problem with the transformation of two objects of the map in the BAT Mod.
(look here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=70804.msg771164#msg771164)
The result was the display of the cities look a bit gappy:
